That's a lot of damage for a "small plane".

Starting to remind me of another incident. First reports, small plane ....

From the Star Telegram:

UPDATE -

Quoting a "federal official," CNN also reported that the unnamed pilot had set his home ablaze before stealing the plane.

The pilot has been identified as Joseph Andrew Stack, television station KXAN reported.

AUSTIN -- A small single-engine airplane has crashed into an office complex in North Austin, reports say.

The seven-story office building, described as the Echelon building, is in the 9400 block of Research Boulevard, according to Austin fire officials. The site is near U.S. 183 and MoPac.

The FBI said there is nothing at this point that indicates that the crash is anything more than an accident at this time.

Initial reports were that the Austin field office of the San Antonio FBI were in the building, but it was later learned that the FBI offices are in a nearby building.

The nearest airport is Austin Bergstrom International Airport, which is some 15 miles away, in southeast Austin, and the crash site is reportedly on the flight path for that airport.

The Austin American-Statesman is offering live streaming video of the plane crash via traffic camera: here.

Austin-Travis County EMS Assistant Director James Shamard told the Statesman that smoke is visible for at least a mile.

The Statesman reported that two people were unaccounted for.

". . .Two people have been transported to the hospital after a small plane crashed into a building in the 9400 block of Research Blvd. across from Arbor Walk.

Austin fire officials said crews had rescued multiple people, and one person is still unaccounted for. So far, there have been no reports of any deaths.

Crews on the scene reported still seeing debris fly off the building an hour after the crash. The fire was also still burning on the inside of the building. The debris is believed to be from firefighters breaking glass windows to vent the building.. ."

If they already know that the pilot set his house on fire before he left, why isn't his name being released? That alone, might tell us a lot.

Glued to the tv.

The U.S. law enforcement officials said authorities were trying to determine if the pilot intentionally targeted the IRS. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is continuing.

Over at Jawa: A Piper Cherokee 140 was the plane that hit the building, unfortunately a driver of a Lexus was hit before the plane hit the building. The Lexus is unrecognizable at this time. Driver is safe, just clipped his car.

The name Joseph Andrew Stack has just been released and reported by FOX to be the name of the person who flew his plane into the Austin Eschelon Building. Updates as available. link

listen to the audio report . . .ha ha . . .since the suspect's identity is not arab it's obviously not terror related. Since when does flying planes into buildings require arab ethnicity to be considered terror?

The "suicide manifesto" ends with a sloganeering attack on capitalism, and it appears that the main object of his wrath was not just "government" but "big business" and state "capitalism". Yet this will be described as a "right-wing" screed? Please.

Just got home but have been listening on the car radio for an hour to it being described as "mass murder" and now it seems they have one successful suicide and one missing person inside the building. Make that "attempted mass murder" or just plain "murder" if the missing turns up dead.

TEA PARTY WILL DOMINATE THE WORLD! TEA PARTY AKBAR!!! ULULULULULULU!!!

Interesting. The man who flew his plane into the building was known as Joseph Stack. Already, there are some Obama supporters blaiming the Right-wing, but the so-called right-wing websites which Joseph Stack could have gone to would be 9/11 "Truther" websites which spew the same nonsense, anti-Capitalist rhetoric.

But they're still "somehow" right-wing. Isn't that strange?

TEA PARTY?

There is not one identifiable statement of principle in the late but no less idiotic Mr. Stack's multi-page rant accusing "big business" and the American medical profession of mass murder with a detour to whine about the Church's tax exemptions (wow, there's a unique complaint!) in the course of a mind-numbingly boring account of what he obviously thought was his tragic and fascinating life. Ending with the Communist motto standing in comparison to the alleged evils of capitalism.

First person stupid enough to try to tell me this is Tea Party related gets a bag of orange pekoe right up their nose.

So far everything I've seen on the MSM is "anti-IRS", "anti-government", "anti-taxes". I'm waiting for the first one to report that he accused the entire medical profession in this country of wholesale murder. He wasn't even an "anarcho-capitalist" or a capitalist of any stripe or anything coherent or identifiable, for that matter.

That plane must have had a full tank because that building does look well and truly trashed. I do hope everyone got out OK. Getting killed by this sort of moron would be such an utterly meaningless waste.
