Michael Kidd Gilchrist has launched a lawsuit against Lords Of London, to the tune of $40 million dollars. He is claiming they failed to cover his “career ending injury” from myocarditis.
Lords of London is the type of insurance company that people with famous talent use to insure their “talent skill”. Athletes are covered for career ending injuries. Singers are covered for career ending injury to their vocal cords. Tina Turner (rest her soul) had her legs insured as they were part of her iconic talent structure. People insure all kinds of things. So his insurance policy protecting his ability to play basketball is not unusual, and most professional athletes have this type of policy.
The article states that MKG caught covid twice and that is what led to his myocarditis. What else do we know here? He was part of the NBA “bubble” which required covid vax to play ball.
His original myocarditis diagnosis was in December 2021 (many months after the covid vax mandate was issued for NBA players), and as of June 2023, his myocarditis has not resolved. He will never play professional basketball again (it appears).
His myocarditis diagnosis came around the same time we all saw players like Kyrie Irving benched due to refusal to take the vaccine. It is not hard to put 2+2 together here and offer the opposing argument of was it “covid” that caused this or his NBA mandated “vaccine”?
Also, does his lawsuit list covid as the reason because arguing that it was the vaccine would be a harder claim to get paid due to the protections in place that prevent litigation from the vaccine?
I watched MKG play a lot of ball back in 2011-2012. He was one of the blue chip players landed by Kentucky. He is a talented athlete. He insured his body to ensure a payout to him if his talent was taken from him due to injury or accident. Lords of London should pay up.
