Remittances are a transfer of money from Mexicans (whether they be Mexican-Americans, or illegal immigrants)  living in the US to people living in Mexico.

Remittances are the 2nd largest part of the Mexican economy, behind oil. 

This means THE 2nd MOST IMPORTANT EXPORT MEXICO HAS IS IT'S OWN FUCKING CITIZENS.

THAT MEANS MEXICO IS A FAILED STATE, AND THEY EXPECT US TO PAY FOR THEIR FAILURE.
