CNN's Word Games

Shilling for dhimmitude:

As pointed out by the Walid Shoebat Foundation Blog:
CNN is apparently willing to include the words “honor killing” and “conservative Afghan” in its news reports but is unwilling to say that the honor killing was mandated by Islamic teachings or even mention that the murderers were Muslims. Instead, the word “conservative” has the effect of comparing such nasty people with the Christian right in America.

The most tragically ironic aspect of this story is that the man who murdered his daughters and tried to cover it up, said that he killed them because they “betrayed kindness.”

This CNN news report is a must-see for the network’s bias. It fits right in line with the network’s history of running interference for Islamists.

Khuram Sher A Terrorist?

First, the video from an American Idol audition in 2008:

Now, this information from Woman Honor Thyself, citing this source:
Misbahuddin Ahmed, 26, an Ottawa X-ray technician, and Khurram Syed Sher, 28, of London and a medical graduate from Montreal’s McGill University, are charged with being part of a terrorist conspiracy.
The same guy?

An Infidel's Saying "Hello" Offends Moslem

Via this posting at Jihad Watch:
When the landlady of my Toronto apartment building said an outraged neighbour had filed a complaint about me over an apparently inappropriate hallway interaction with his wife, my mind raced through the countless conversations I've had with fellow tenants, none of which seemed a possible source of offence.

It turns out, it wasn't a salacious transaction that had caused the complaint, but rather a neighbourly and -- to me -- entirely forgettable greeting, little more than a brief "good morning" as I passed my neighbours on the way to work.
An infidel's wishing a good day to a Moslem apparently isn't a courtesy. Rather, it is an insult.

The article in the National Post (via Jihad Watch) continues:
Still, it was enough of an affront for the man -- once a doctor somewhere in the Middle East, my landlady clarified -- to feel I had broken a cultural taboo. The incident started an awkward feud which has involved warnings not to repeat my indiscretion and one face-to-face shouting match, which included allusions to my impending death.

I expect the battle will wage on, as we appear to be stuck at an impasse.

His Muslim upbringing has ingrained in him a sense of entitlement to demand I not speak directly to his wife; and my prairie upbringing has ingrained in me a duty to strive for polite cohesion with my neighbours....
Here in Northern Virginias, we have a lot of Moslem bank tellers, many wearing hijabs. You may note the same in your locale. If so, infidel gentlemen, watch your step!

Robert Spencer also notes the following:
The funny thing about this is that if this man did start ignoring his neighbors, never holding the elevator for them, never greeting them, etc., onlookers would think him "xenophobic" and say that his coldness was the kind of thing that made Muslim immigrants feel alienated and lash out in terrorist acts.
To greet or not to greet? That is the question.

Saddam's Spies: Part Two

Part One is HERE.

From this December 30, 2008 article in the Washington Post:
Another Man Charged With Secretly Aiding Saddam Hussein

Federal authorities yesterday charged an Iraqi-born man who allegedly worked at Iraq's embassy in Washington with secretly providing information to the regime of Saddam Hussein, the second such case to come to light in recent days.

Mouyad Mahmoud Darwish, a Canadian citizen, was allegedly paid -- authorities did not say how much -- for providing information to the Iraqi intelligence service.

In one instance, before the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, Darwish reported that Iraqi volunteers were being trained in Virginia by the U.S. military, according to charging documents made public yesterday.

Darwish was charged by federal authorities in Maryland. The accusation against him comes a week after Saubhe Jassim Al-Dellemy, an Iraqi native and Maryland resident, pleaded guilty in federal court in Baltimore.

Neither man is charged with seeking or obtaining classified or otherwise secret information. Each is charged with conspiring to act as an unregistered agent of a foreign government, an offense that carries a maximum prison term of five years.

Darwish, 47, was detained Dec. 24 as he tried to enter the United States from Canada, where he has been living. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow in Buffalo.

It was unclear yesterday whether Darwish is represented by a lawyer. Federal authorities said Darwish lived in Maryland, but they did not say where or for how long.

Darwish and Dellemy are among at least 16 people who have been charged as a result of an investigation undertaken by the FBI using documents recovered in Iraq after the U.S. invasion in 2003.

The U.S. attorney's office in Maryland declined to comment on whether the two Maryland cases are connected. The charging document filed yesterday against Darwish suggests at least one possible link....
No doubt, neighbors of Darwish and Dellemy thought they were really nice and friendly guys.

Canadian Mosque Says "No Offense Intended"

I sure the imam there didn't intend any offense. On the contrary, he's just teaching what he thinks Allah wants him to teach. He's callin' 'em like he sees 'em, then the mosque's web site is scrubbed clean of the material in question.

From this source:
Canada mosque criticized for Western, Jewish slurs

DUBAI (AlArabiya.net)

A Canadian mosque that has asked workplaces to accept a strict dress code for Muslim women is now under criticism for publicizing slurs against Jews and western societies as well as warning members against integration, Canadian paper the Star reported.

The Khalid Bin al-Walid Mosque has served as the religious authority for eight Somali women who filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission against the delivery service UPS claiming that the company dress code violated their religious freedom.

The Toronto mosque, founded in 1990, serves about 10,000 people and is known for preaching strict adherence to Islamic Sharia law.

The mosque website refers to non-Muslim Westerners as "wicked", "corrupt" and "our clear enemies."

The website's Questions and Answer section where Muslims can ask, which allows Muslims to ask questions regarding their religion but has come under attack recently for some of the replies, according to the Star.

"Is it permissible for women to wear high heeled-shoes?" one reader asked, to which the reply was no. "It involves resembling the Disbelieving Women or the wicked women. It has its origin among the Jewish women," read the explanation.

The site reportedly went on to say that once (a Muslim woman) becomes introduced to the wickedness of Western ideology and concepts ... (she) becomes fixated on trying to appear and act like her "role models" of corruption....

[...]

The Q and A section was no longer available on the site at the time of publication and several attempts by AlArabiya.net to reach representatives of the mosque for clarification were unsuccessful.

Hmmmm....The web site was changed. Now, where have I heard THAT before?

Polygamy In Ontario

Via Dhimmi Watch and from this source:
It’s an issue the Liberal govenrment of Ontario, led by Premier Dalton McGuinty, doesn’t want to deal with — polygamy in the Muslim community. Last week the Toronto Star told the story of Safa Rigby, a 35-year-old mother of five children who recently learned her husband of 14 years had two other wives. Ms. Rigby’s life is in tatters. She followed her husband’s advice that she leave Toronto and live in Egypt for a year on the grounds that it would be better for their children to spend more time in a Muslim country. Now she knows it was a ruse. He used her time there to marry two other women.

Ms. Rigby does not support polygamy, which has been illegal in Canada for more than a century. But Toronto Imam Aly Hindy, who runs the Toronto Salahuddin Islamic Centre, does. He married Ms. Rigby’s husband knowing he already had a wife and counselled him to keep the marriage secret from Ms. Rigby for as long as possible. Hindy has by his own admission performed 30 ceremonies in which men were married who already had wives. When Ms. Rigby confronted Hindy his response was reportedly cold and unsympathetic: “You will have to stand beside him in these difficult times,” Hindy told her. “You should stop causing problems to (sic) him. You will not get anything by divorce except destroying your life” he went on to say.

For Hindy this is not about Ms. Rigby or her husband’s desire to marry another woman — but making a broader political point.

Hindy is using polygamy as a proxy for his fundamentalist version of Islam, something he wants to see legitimized in Canadian society as a whole.
Western nations have a decision to make: sticking by Western law and principles or bowing to shari'a law. Which will it be?

The Muslim Obsession With Cartoons

From this source in Canada:
Police in Halifax are investigating a complaint about a political cartoon that some members of a local Islamic group claim is a hate crime.

The cartoon, published April 18 in the Chronicle Herald newspaper, depicts a woman in a burka holding a sign that reads, "I want millions," and she says, "I can put it towards my husband's next training camp."

The cartoon by Bruce MacKinnon is a reference to Cheryfa MacAulay Jamal, a woman from Nova Scotia whose husband was arrested in 2006 in an anti-terrorism raid. Qayyum Abdul Jamal was released from jail after charges against him were stayed on April 15.

Zia Khan, director of the Centre for Islamic Development in Halifax, said the cartoon goes beyond what can be considered free speech.

[...]

Dan Leger, the Herald's director of news content, said the cartoon does not take aim at all Muslims.

"The whole purpose of that cartoon was to comment on the outrageous demands of this individual for compensation long before any hearing into her case had ever been held," he said.

In an interview with the Herald before the cartoon ran, Jamal said she wanted to sue the federal government for what her family has gone through and told the reporter, "I want millions," Leger noted.

"[MacKinnon] depicted her exactly the way she looks and used her own words, and that's the genius of cartooning that you're able to do that," he said.

Leger said he first heard of the Islamic group's concerns when the newspaper was contacted by police.
What would Muslims have thought of Thomas Nast?
His engravings chronicled the American scene from the Civil War period to the turn of the century. They highlighted every major national event and issue, the political process, elections, and scandal in the government. The American scene was ripe in subject matter for Nast. The country was fast becoming an industrial nation; railroads were spreading, factories were being built, and cities were fast becoming crowded with immigrants that supplied cheap labor. Scandal was everywhere. Elections were being rigged. One of his most famous political cartoon attacks was aimed at Boss Tweed.
If Nast had turned his attention to caricaturizing and satirizing Muslims, they'd have started another cartoonifada.

Enforcing Dhimmitude in Canada : The Film

Who is this feisty bulldog of a man who dares to sit before a Canadian "Human Rights Court" and tell them to their face what fascists they have become? No wonder so many Canadians go outside Canada to live and work. Canada is a beautiful country, and its people are beautiful and strong. But who could live in peace, subject to the type of kangaroo court described in the video above?

It is time for all North Americans to wake up to the creeping fascism of "human rights courts", "hate speech crimes," and other PC Thought Police administered criminal codes and rules that are making a bloody minefield out of the public commons.

Dead Because Of Her Hijab

Or, more accurately, because she wouldn't continue to wear her hijab.

At least, that's how the situation looks right now.

Aqsa Parvez, 16-years-old, was this week choked to death by her father in the Greater Toronto area of Canada. From this source:
The 16-year-old Mississauga girl who was allegedly strangled by her father in a dispute over her refusal to wear the hijab has died.

Aqsa Parvez, a Grade 11 student at Applewood Heights, succumbed to her injuries late last night, Peel Regional Police said today.

The girl’s 57-year-old father, Muhammad Parvez, has been charged with muder. Aqsa’s 26-year-old brother, Waqas Parvez, has been charged with obstructing police.

Friends believe Aqsa...was the victim of a dispute over the teenager's desire to be more western.

“She wanted to live her life the way she wanted to, not the way her parents wanted her to,” classmate Krista Garbhet told the Post this morning.

“She just wanted to be herself, honestly she just wanted to show her beauty, and not be pushed around by her parents telling her what she has to be like, what she has to do. Nobody would want to do that.”
According to this source,
Friends of the teenager...said she had been threatened by her strictly religious family before.

“She got threatened by her father and her brother,” said Dominiquia Holmes-Thompson, who had known Aqsa since they both started high school together. “He said that if she leaves, he would kill her.”

Ebonie Mitchell, 16, another friend of the victim, said the conflict with her father over wearing Islamic dress came to a head at the beginning of this school year. “She just wanted to dress like we do,” she said.

“Last year she wore like the Islamic stuff and everything, the hijab, and this year she’s all Western. She just wanted to look like everyone else. And I guess her dad had a problem with that.”

Ebonie said her friend had left home once before, in September, for about two weeks. She returned home, but the fights with her family over what she wore just got worse.

Dominiquia, 16, said her friend had been arguing with her father for more than a year over the restrictions he imposed on her, including demanding that she wear the hijab at all times. “She wanted to go out with her friends, hang out and just be like a normal person,” she said. “But he was always trying to control her ... he wouldn’t let her go out or do anything.”

The stricken girl’s friends said the fights with her father got so bad that she had left the family home to live with friends about a week ago. “She was going back, but just to get her stuff,” said friend Krista Garbutt. “She was scared to go home, but she had to get her clothes and stuff.”

Neighbours said as many as 11 people lived in the home, which was sealed off by crime scene tape and surrounded by police cars yesterday, all members of an extended Pakistani family. Const. Valade confirmed that there were other people in the home when the teenager was attacked.

“I didn’t really know any of them,” said one woman, who would not give her name. “There were a lot of them living in that house, always coming and going. They didn’t talk to me, maybe just to say hello once in a while. That’s all.”

The home where the teen was attacked is the listed address of Muhammad Parvez, a Mississauga cab driver. “He was Muslim and very devout, very observant,” said one of his fellow drivers at Mississauga’s Blue and White Taxi, who did not want his name used. “He was always stopping to take breaks and pray: three, four times a day.”

His eldest son, also named Muhammad, also worked as a cab driver and lived in the family home with his wife and at least one child, the driver said. Several people inside the home were questioned by police before being allowed to leave.

Neighbours said the family moved in just over a year ago.
Police have cautioned not to jump to conclusions about the case. But it doesn't take much of a leap to figure out the father's motive. Aqsa was assimilating, as the children of immigrants will do, and her father wasn't about to have that happen.

Remember the face of Aqsa Parvez:

Silencing The Voices

(All emphases by Always On Watch)

Being sidelined has its benefits. I've had a lot of time to think.

What follows is another of my long reads and delineates more of the trend of whining Muslims as they continue to attempt even more erosion of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. At present, the information in this posting may not be directly affecting you. In my view, however, the curbing of speech and press WILL directly touch you.

Mark Steyn, author of America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It, and a Canadian magazine have caught the attention of the Canadian Islamic Congress, Canada's largest non-profit Islamic organization, which is now seeking to silence Maclean's Magazine for publishing an excerpt from Steyn's book....
