That said, if the following information is true, the Trump Administration needs to get the word out — before Donald Trump loses the support of a core group within the electorate that elected him to the Oval Office. WE THE PEOPLE are wary of our so-called elected public servants, because they have so often reneged on campaign promises made.

If the above information is true, Donald Trump needs to say so every time that he's in front of the camera. Every time!
Here's the thing: The above info is true, but it is only working because illegals and wannabe illegals really believe that Trump will follow through.
If he does not follow through, the flood gates will open up like you've never seen them before.
Think about it. How could I be wrong in what I am saying?
I was thinking exactly what Pasto said. AS long as the threat is real it will plunge. If they believe he will renege on the wall and possibly other things then there will be no stopping them.
Pasto,
I think that you're right about the floodgates.
Now, how can the Congress critters be forced to get behind Trump and fund the wall? They must damn well know that many Americans want that wall built.
How?
It's TRUMP'S RESPONSIBILITY.
That's the job he was hired to do. He knows that.
The wall needs to get done.
Pasto,
That's the job he was hired to do.
I agree.
But
I think that Trump thought that if he won the election, the GOP would get behind him. That is a realistic assumption on his part, isn't that?
Trump talked a lot about draining the swamp. An effective chant on the campaign trail. But did he realize just how extensive the swamp is?
You and I came to the realization that we've had a uniparty for a long time. But a lot of people still don't see that reality.
IMO, Trump wasn't lying when he said, "Build the wall." Do you think that he was lying?
PS: I'm not making excuses for Trump.
No. I don't think he was lying.
But I also don't think he is naive enough to believe anything was going to be easy.
He may have gotten caught up in his own hubris which may have developed from, "Look how easy it is for me to beat these people at their own game," but at the same time, he has to know that big change is difficult.
And he knew well about entrenched corruption in government, and he knows it is propped up by fiefdoms based on kickbacks and various forms of stolen money.
He knows people get angry and even violent when their money is threatened.
He had to have known how hard this would be.
I thought he was in it to win.
Pasto,
I think that you nailed it:
He may have gotten caught up in his own hubris.
This comment appeared at my blog today:
Illegal immigration along the U.S. - Mexico border has been declining steadily since 2007, so I'm not sure that we should read into this too much.
Aspirations for a physical wall, however...are an anachronistic farce. A wall without overwatch, is a wall breached. This, any wall will need an array of sensors and patrols. Ditch the construction, and focus on sensors and manned patrols. A "wall", at best...is a government jobs program.
- CI
Accurate? Probably.
Still, IMO, there needs to be a portion of a physical wall -- such as Trump described during his campaign. Furthermore -- and so very important -- if Trump decides to do something along the lines that CI mentioned, then Trump needs to get out there, over and over again, and explain why. A media blitz that cannot be ignored.
SF, another commenter at my blog and a veteran of our ongoing war in the Middle East, said this:
A great wall of china is not practical due to terrain, etc. Certain areas do need barriers, and we have all kinds of technology that can fill the gap where needed.
I was hoping the President would insist on e-verify for all workers and social services in exchange for backing down on The Big Beautiful Wall, but I've heard no talk of that...
But yes, illegal entry appears to be way down. It doesn't take long for the message to get out.
I said it years ago: Obama was purposely sending out the message that our doors were open, and people responded.
We need a regional solution, cooperation among the nations of this hemisphere that includes law enforcement cooperation. The gangs and cartels are eating Central America and Mexico alive, and they are creating death and destruction here, albeit on a smaller scale.
Go Google MS-13 and Long Island. The stories will make your blood boil.
At this point, commitment and will are more important than the specifics of whether this portion will be a real wall, or a virtual wall made of sensors.
I do not see the commitment and will being manifested.
Therefore, my assumption is we will see nothing done.
The reason Illegal Immigration has been down since 2007 is because our economy fucking sucks.
After the collapse in September 2008, there was a noticeable decrease in traffic in Los Angeles. A large decrease.
The next thing I noticed is fast food workers spoke English.
Now it is rare to go to a fast food joint and have trouble understanding the person who is talking to you.
This means, REAL AMERICAN CITIZENS are working fast food jobs.
And the only reason for that is because they could not get better jobs, and they took the jobs the Mexicans and other South Americans had before, when the economy was better.
The economy is so bad we can not sustain illegal immigration, and therefore, many illegals went back home.
That a large part of why illegal immigration is down.
It is NOT because of effectiveness.
The recent drop is real and it is because of Trump.
But go back to my first comment in this thread: If Trump drops the ball on the wall, I GUARANTEE YOU YOU WILL SEE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION LIKE YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE.
Pasto,
I strongly agree with the last paragraph of your most recent comment to this thread.
Is there nothing that WE THE PEOPLE can do? NOTHING?
