Will Obama administration release evidence of Saudi connections to 9-11?

The Obama administration will likely soon release at least part of a 28-page secret chapter from a congressional inquiry into 9/11 that may shed light on possible Saudi connections to the attackers.

The documents, kept in a secure room in the basement of the Capitol, contain information from the joint congressional inquiry into “specific sources of foreign support for some of the Sept. 11 hijackers while they were in the United States.”

Bob Graham, who was co-chairman of that bipartisan panel, and others say the documents point suspicion at the Saudis. The former Democratic senator from Florida says an administration official told him that intelligence officials will decide in the next several weeks whether to release at least parts of the documents. The disclosure would come at a time of strained U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia, a long-time American ally.

“I hope that decision is to honor the American people and make it available,” Graham told NBCs’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “The most important unanswered question of 9/11 is, did these 19 people conduct this very sophisticated plot alone, or were they supported?”

[...] The pages were withheld from the 838-page report on the orders of President George W. Bush, who said the release could divulge intelligence sources and methods. Still, protecting U.S.-Saudi diplomatic relations also was believed to have been a factor.

Is that so? If you needed a valid reason to look upon Bush in disgrace, this would have to be it, and I wouldn't be surprised if the latter possibility turned out to be the real reason why this report was withheld until now.

And Saudi Arabia an "ally"? Hardly. It's terrible how many political bodies in the west have long granted legitimacy to a country that enslaves women and forbids criticism of Islam under threat of torture and death, and otherwise teaches hate towards Israel. If it matters, it's also despicable how Cuba was allowed to run a communist reign for so long, damaging the lives of many people on the island. Western democracies hurt themselves by not helping the less fortunate to free their areas from the grip of tyranny.

And of course, they aren't helping to prevent evil from the Saudis if they ignore and cover for them, all because they're supposedly "allies".

Missouri: Muslim migrant threatens to kill family that sponsored him, faces deportation

PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. — A 25-year-old Libyan man, who Platte County prosecutor alleged is part a terrorist organization, pleaded guilty to two felonies Thursday. 

Ali Swei pleaded guilty to aggravated stalking and attempted stealing by coercion. Prosecutors say he threatened to kill the family that was sponsoring him and threatened their relatives in Libya. 

Prosecutors add that Swei threatened to harm the Libyan immigrant family he was staying with if they did not pay him $30,000. 

A member of that family, who did not want FOX 4 to show his face because he has been threatened since Swei’s arrest, says he believes the guilty pleas will result in Swei’s deportation. 

“I am so relieved for my family, it`s really been a roller coaster especially for my wife,” the man said. 

“It`s really heartbreaking it`s nervousness she doesn`t sleep she has nightmares. She`s worried all the threats hopefully are never-never no family will ever go through what we have gone through.” 

In pleading guilty, Swei’s lawyer, Andrew Christie, denied that the Libyan student is part of a terrorist organization. 

Christie claims that FBI reports show that the government has no interest in Swei as a danger. But he also declined to comment on Swei’s immigration status. 

As part of a plea deal, Swei was placed on probation for 4 years and his sentence suspended. 

The judge also said the guilty pleas could prevent Swei from becoming a citizen, permanent resident or result in his deportation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned on Sunday that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is putting the party at risk of breaking apart. 

In a radio interview with John Catsimatidis, the former presidential candidate explained his reasoning for backing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, someone he has butted heads with in the past. 

“I’m supporting Cruz because I think he is a reliable conservative; I think the election will be much more competitive with Ted Cruz,” he said. 

“The people of New York voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in the Republican primary — I respect that. 

“I have never been more worried about the Republican Party breaking apart than I am today.” Graham said the silver lining of Trump’s rise is that it means people are tired of “big-government liberalism.”

Imam Who Threatened Ayaan Hirsi Ali With Death For Apostasy Led Interfaith Prayer Service After Paris Attacks

A Pennsylvania imam who was fired last year by the Bureau of Prisons for his claims that author and Harvard lecturer Ayaan Hirsi Ali deserved to be killed under Islamic law for apostatizing from Islam recently led an interfaith prayer service after the ISIS attacks in Paris last November. 

Fouad ElBayly, the imam at the Islamic Center of Johnstown, led the Nov. 21 prayer event, where he said: 

The Islamic Center of Johnstown and all the Muslim communities in our region condemn the evil doing of the people who carried out that terrible attack against innocent people. 

This is similar to the statements he made at a March 2002 prayer service for the 9/11 victims on United Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, PA, not far from ElBayly's mosque: 

Imam Fouad El Bayly of the Islamic Center of Johnstown and Somerset asked people to be tolerant. He said the Muslim extremists who hijacked the plane also hijacked the Islamic faith. 

"In the name of God, in the name of peace, in the name of brotherhood, in the name of mankind, let there be peace," he said. "We cannot condemn a nation, a religion, for the acts of a few." 

But peace and tolerance are are apparently hard concepts for ElBayly to follow himself. 

Last year he was fired as a Bureau of Prisons chaplain at the Federal Correctional Institute of Cumberland, MD, after it was reported he was hired under a $10,500 February 2014 federal contract despite his 2007 comments calling for the killing of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. 

He later received another $2,400 contract to teach Islam in the same federal prison in December 2014. 

In January, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, wrote to the Bureau of Prisons inquiring about the flaws in their hiring process that led to ElBayly's employment. 

After it was revealed that ElBayly had been hired, Hirsi Ali penned an editorial in the Wall Street Journal expressing surprise that the imam who had threatened her with death was now employed by the Justice Department.

George Clooney pays respects to Armenia

If there's anything positive an actor like Clooney's been doing, it's to recognize the Armenian Holocaust at an official commemoration:

Hollywood star and rights advocate George Clooney on Sunday led thousands of Armenians on a march to a hilltop memorial in Yerevan to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the World War I-era Armenian genocide.

A staunch advocate of the massacre's recognition as genocide, Clooney arrived in the ex-Soviet nation on Saturday to take part in the hugely symbolic ceremonies.

Clooney and the French singer of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour joined President Serzh Sarkisian and thousands of Armenians to lay flowers at the eternal flame at the imposing Tsitsernakaberd memorial as requiem services for the victims were held in churches across the country.

Armenians say up to 1.5 million people were killed during World War I as the Ottoman Empire was falling apart, a claim supported by many other countries.

Turkey fiercely rejects the genocide label, arguing that 300,000 to 500,000 Armenians and at least as many Turks died in civil strife when Armenians rose up against their Ottoman rulers and sided with invading Russian troops.

Clooney co-chairs the selection committee of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity which was established on behalf of the survivors.

The genocide "is a part of Armenia's history, it's also a part of the world's history, it's not the pain of one nation only," the US actor and director said upon his arrival in Yerevan.

The Hollywood heavyweight will name an inaugural recipient of the Aurora Prize during an award ceremony in the city later Sunday.

The laureate will be given a $100,000 grant and will nominate organisations to receive a $1 million award.

"Today, we commemorate the sacred memory of the victims of the Armenian genocide," Sarkisian said in a statement.

Turkey's "policy of denial... has not changed, as has not changed its hostile stance toward everything that is Armenian," he added.

Quite right. That's why I hope he's disappointed with Obama for failing throughout his entire tenure to acknowledge the Armenian genocide for what it was.

A Christian brother and sister from Syria felt blessed to have been among the dozen refugees selected to start a new life in Italy — but now say their savior, Pope Francis, abandoned them on a Greek island, according to a report. 

Roula and Malek Abo, who had been housed in a refugee camp on Lesbos, said they thanked their lucky stars when they found out the Vatican had selected them during the pontiff’s visit to the island last week, the Daily Mail reported. 

Their dreams were shattered, though, when they were informed the following day that they would not be traveling to Rome. 

Instead, three Muslim families were taken. 

Asked why they were all Muslim, Francis said there was something wrong with the papers of a Christian family on the list. 

The siblings arrived in Greece on April 1 — 10 days after a controversial European Union deal called for asylum-seekers in Greece to be returned to Turkey. 

Their hopes to avoid deportation now hinge on their applications for asylum. “If they can do this for 12 people, they can do it for more,” Roula, 22, told the paper. 

“If you have promised to take people back to Italy, will something like registration papers stand in your way?”
