How Long Will We Wait Before We Really Begin To Fight?

Mona Charen is in a very gloomy mood over at National Review's The Corner:

We (and this also includes Israelis, Brits, and a few others) would never dream of targeting civilians for any reason – not even in self-defense. In 2002, the Israelis used ground troops going house to house in Jenin rather than attack from the air — though it cost the lives of 23 of their men – in order to spare civilians.

Our enemies can not imagine not targeting civilians – ours – and when they can be used as human shields/propaganda fodder, theirs.

Our people are beheaded on videotape and the world ignores it. We fail to offer the full panoply of the Bill of Rights to the beheaders and the world groans at the inhumanity of it all.

The United Nations Security Council condemns Israel for defending herself from naked aggression and manages to overlook Chechnya, the Chinese occupation of Tibet, every terrorist attack against Israel, the massacre in Rwanda, the Indonesian occupation of East Timor, Serbian acts in Bosnia, and pretty much the entire continent of Africa, which as Kofi Annan surely knows better than most, is a human rights cesspool.

As Jeane Kirkpatrick put it: “What happens in the Security Council more closely resembles a mugging than either a political debate or an effort at problem-solving.”

There are millions of Americans who are not deluded by this madness (and we draw our military recruits from their ranks), and yet you cannot escape the times you live in.

Lack of self-confidence is eroding our civilization like dry rot. We are not as far gone as Europe – but the glide path is worrisome.

Thing is, this will all come to an end eventually. When the West has finally been pushed too far, we will respond with power like the world has never seen before. The sad thing is, the longer we wait, the worse things will be when that time comes. Everyday we wait, I become more and more despondent over the destruction to come.

Our victory is inevitable. I have no question about that. My sadness is for the millions, maybe hundreds of millions of dead and maimed who will pay the price for their silence in the face of rising fascism.

Millions dead, or the Death of Freedom?
It's an easy choice.

Yeah, it's an easy choice, but that does not make it much less horrific.

when told the a-bomb was ready - a weapon he knew nothing about while in the senate or even as veep (even though they cost more than the entire gdp of the usa!) - truman said:

a la ernie banks comment about baseball.

seriously, he gave them an umtilmatum; thyey ignored it. he dropped a bomb and waited a week.
they still refuswed to surrender.
he HAD to drop another.

they surrendered.

it ultimately SVED LIVES.

millions of japanese lives were saved.

we need a prez like trman and an ally like churchill.

we need to use everything we've got to defend freedom and WIN THE PEACE.

i am sick and tired of bush's half-measures, the whole RoP BS and us tolerating iran and assad and the un.

it's time they were all erased.

It sounds like you are getting as frustrated as I am.

I think you might like my new post on Ataturk.

Victory is inevitable? just like 'we' are winning in iraq and afghanistan? wow, u guys have managed to totally eclipse reality.

this year, military air strikes have caused approximately four times more civilian deaths than suicide bombs. The US democracy can't even fight more fairly than the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. So i suggest they give up and piss off back home.

You bunch of yank bastards. You'll see Iran is going to drop a massive nuke on you zionist bastards in Israel. Then he's going to send one straight to America and insha allah kill all you stinking yanks for oppressing my people. You dogs are going to die in hell.

First and foremost, God Bless America

Yank bastards? Oh really. The only thing Iran is going to drop is it's pants when it bends over. Oppression, you won't even have to worry about memorizing those nasty little liberal key words anymore because you won't have any use for them in hell.
