I Am Not Sorry For This

Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher.

He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself.

While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth – His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Nineteen long centuries have come and gone, and today He is a centerpiece of the human race and leader of the column of progress.

I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that were ever built; all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life.

James Allen Francis

That is the man I call my God and my Lord. I am not sorry for that and I never will be. I am not sorry I posted these words on this blog. I am not sorry I might have offended some of our readers. I am not sorry that I don't follow the 21st century crowd of "cool" people that adhere to Buddhism or New Age way of thinking or Agnosticism. I respectfully disagree with all those ideas and ways of life and once again, I am not sorry for that.

Yep, I'm with you. And, as you said, I respectfully disagree with those who have other beliefs. However, the emphasis is on respect.

Except when it comes to Islam.

I don't respect people who believe that apostates and gays should be put to death. I don't respect people who deny equal rights to women. And, I don't respect people who believe it's ok to marry 9 year old girls.

Cool by this Jew.

What's Obama's problem with Jewish carpenters? He wants them to hang up their hammers in their own holy land.

Atheists will never gain acceptance by god-believers, I am now willing to concede that. And you only "love" us because you think your god loves us and we will learn our lesson after death at the Pearly Gates.

So, I would tell you who is important to my life, but as long as it isn't Jesus it won't count anyway, will it?

Look, guys, I'm going to Portsmouth on Tuesday with some friends to yell at Obama. Let me know if you want to hear about it from me. If not, I'll ask my friend to post, she's Christian. She's also got the digital camera.

I'm an atheist crusader and I'm not a bit sorry that you're not sorry that you posted that ;-)

I am intrigued however by your suggestion that readers here "might take offense" to your stating your own beliefs. I can't really imagine IBA caliber non-Christians would be quite so sensitive as you imply there. I could be wrong though.

I happen to like tits and I'll never apologize for that.

RRA,

FIrst of all: HUH?!

Second, what in the world did I say that you wrote whatever you wrote up there? You can be atheist all you want and no to set the record straight, I don't pretend to love anyone! Just because I said Jesus, you don't have to jump the gun and start generalizing!

Oh and I wrote what I wrote because I believe in that and if anyone has a problem with it, well, I don't care! I am not preaching and trying to "save" anyone!

Thomas Jefferson once said, "It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

I believe that that man was right!

As for whether you should write about Portsmouth or your friend, well I'd rather your friend wrote about it, not because she's Christian but because she's got a digitcal camera ;-) :-P.

That's not true by this Christian.

My best friend (40 years!) is an atheist. My father-in-law is an atheist. I accept that they believe what they believe and don't believe what I believe. If they ask me questions, I answer. Otherwise, we talk about other matters.

I live by this...My soul is my business, your soul is your business. I have enough trouble taking care of my own soul, so I won't butt into your life.
