Act of Valor -- Opinion?

Waddup peeps! Long time, no see!

Anyway, I just watched this movie and I thought it was A-mayy-zing!

They portrayed things accurately and well, I just didn't expect a movie to do that anymore.

Here's the making of/trailer.

I'd like to know what you guys thought about this movie (if you've seen it).

Here's the IMDb link for it.

You can watch one of the official trailer here.

Courage. Loyalty. Honor. These words (from the trailer) have lost their true meaning in our modern civilian society, sadly.

Avenging Apostate Replies To An Anonymous Commenter Who Is Smarter Than All The Rest Of Us COMBINED

Recently, we had an Anonymous commenter who believed and so proved, that he is certainly smarter than everyone else at this website, COMBINED. No doubt about it. Nope. No doubt.

Avenging Apostate replies:

Anonymous,

Alright. Clearly you’re too dumb and immature to understand that it is considered civil to not leave someone hanging and to inform people that you have read their comments or will read their comments and will come back and write a reply. You just showed your ignorance and lack of civility by replying to my two lines pre-maturely. Oh and before I continue, I just want to ask, were you trying to be funny with what you said? Because if that’s what you wanted to achieve or insult as a whole was your point, all you managed to show was that you are, at best, a dimwit idiot.

Anyway, let us get to your comments. Even though they aren’t worth replying to, I just want to have fun with them here a little bit. I am not going to respond every single word of yours because it is so intellectually low in quality that even a chimp can do better than what you did. I will just address the things that pertain to our blog.

“I would prefer if Europeans (and Black Africans and Native Americans and such) follow their rich pagan roots rather than some perverse, barbaric Semitic desert cults.”

So, what exactly are those “rich pagan roots”? Are they where people are killed for believing there is only one god and not a pantheon of gods (Socrates, through Plato)? Or are the roots that you talk about the barbarism of Germanic tribes where human rights were non existent and looting, murdering and raping were some of the ways they “earned” their living? Or more peaceful ways of congregation like putting your head under the cows right when they are about to piss, because of the belief that cow piss makes your hair healthier. Or men standing and pissing in a pond full of fish to marinate the fish in it and eat after some months (the last two things that I mentioned still happen in Iceland, maybe you’d like to drink piss here and there and move to Iceland, you got your pagan culture still in place in that country). It is funny when people like you talk about “rich pagan roots” and all you think it means is “peace on earth forever” yet you idiots have no idea how the European pagans lived and treated others.

And what rich roots in Africa? Drinking of animal blood to pass into adulthood? Killing of the strongest male to take over the tribe and women? Cannibalism?

And Native Americans—if you think bathing in each other men’s sweat is such a grand idea and a rich ritual to do (and you call us closet faggots, ha! funny), why don’t you join them and stop whining on this blog?

It shows extreme ignorance on your part when you complain about wars started by Christians, yet you are all for pagan religions. Do you really think Europeans, North Africans and Native Americans never fought? Do you really, honestly think that there was eternal peace before these religions came along? You have got to be the most ignorant person on the planet if you think that way. You might want to pick up a history book or two and learn about these “rich pagan roots” of these cultures before you start telling others to go back to them.

“I admire the Chinese and the Hindus because they kept their ancestral religions for the most part rather than worship a sick, bloodthirsty, demonic desert deity invented by the Hebrews in their own image.”

So you like the Hindu ancestral religion where a widow is burned alongside her dead husband? Nice!

“from Greco-Roman Europe and Zoroastrian Persia, through to Hindu India and Egypt and tropical Africa and the Americas and the Oceania”

Pederasty was the most common form of homosexuality in both Ancient Greece and Rome. Today it would be considered pedophilia—is that what you are trying to promote? I , personally, don’t care if someone is homosexual. People can do whatever they want with their lives but pedophilia is something I will not tolerate, whether bigots like you have a problem with that or not, I don’t give a damn!

As for other religions you mentioned, fire-worship, burning of widows, cannibalism, human sacrifices and worship of gods of war was part of the cultures you just mentioned. Shows us what kind of person you are. You have a perception of Christianity and Judaism, and you criticize these religions for the beliefs you think exist in these religions yet you are completely unfamiliar about the pagan religions that you are trying to promote here.

“But the fundamental problem with the Abrahamic cults (aside from the fact that they are founded on lies)”

This cracked me up! You are a person of contradictions. You want people to go back to the pagan MYTHOLOGIES and you have no problem with that but Abrahamic religions? Oh no no, they are based on lies.

“For the Jew, this question is irrelevant, but the Jew defaults to the former position (there is no inherent morality, only God's fiat), and this much is true (to a slightly lesser extent) for the Mohammedan as well.”

How do you mean “to a slightly lesser extent”. You really don’t know anything about Islam, do you?

“Yahweh was a pagan god in the Semitic Canaanite pantheon who craved human blood”

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe you didn’t mean to say “Yahweh” here because, sorry to burst your idiotic little bubble but Yahweh does not appear in any Canaanite writings or history. But I am sure you just made a mistake here, just like the rest of your comment, I am sure, is a mistake.

“Of course I can despise these religions without any ill feelings towards their followers. If you see anything "moral" in the barbarous Old Testament then you are beyond human decency…”

But its fine if you think pagan religions of the past were super awesome? Where human sacrifice, drinking of blood, pedophilia etc were instituted as a daily or weekly ritual? Yeah, shows who’s really beyond human decency.

Further ignorance on your part:

“Christianity: over 1 billion worldwide
Islam: over 1 billion worldwide”

Can’t you do research before you start typing? Christianity (with all its sects): 2.2 Billion and Islam (with all its sects, including Ahmadiyyah): 1.2-1.3 Billion

And if you are now going to start whining that you don’t call Atheists Christians then I just want to remind you of your own comment that said: “Christians: Most of them are nominal believers, atheist or at least deist in all but name. Or they pick and choose what to follow.”

“Muslims had no such process [i.e. enlightenment], for reasons that are not entirely clear.”
Its pretty darn clear to me and others that know Islam. Clearly you don’t know a thing about what you’re saying.

Just for kicks, the following:

“Revolutionary movements such as the American War of Independence and the French Revolution, lead by such figures as Voltaire, Paine, Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Napoleon, Lincoln”

I didn’t know Lincoln was part of either the American War of Independence or the French Revolution. Time travel is possible!

“If you were true to your pretension of being an "Infidel" Blogger's Alliance, you can rightfully criticize Islam along with the other poisonous Abrahamic doctrines.”

Of course you are too much of a moron to know that the reason the word Infidel is used in this blog is because that is what Muslims call non-Muslims. Simple! And we “can” rightfully criticize? Who the hell are you to dictate what we can or can’t do? Get your own blog!

“Also, since you mention the Talmud, it is nothing more than sick, racist hate literature. Consider the genocidal Noahide laws!”

While ignoring the same crap that you keep repeating (rich pagan cultures, blah blah blah), I came across this gem from you. Genocidal Noahide laws. Let’s see what these horrific laws are: Prohibition of Idolatry, prohibition of murder, prohibition of theft, prohibition of sexual immorality, prohibition of blasphemy, prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive, establishment of courts of justice.

I got to tell you man, I really want to annihilate some people after I read these GENOCIDAL NOAHIDE LAWS!

“The figure of Jesus Christ (who is revered by both Christians and Muslims but despised by pious Jews), was probably the only good thing about those traditions. Ironically he can be seen as going *against* the Abrahamic tradition (i.e. the nascent Jewish religion, which was of course the only thing going on in his day) in many ways. It is unfortunate that he had such great teachings yet Christians do not really pay much attention to him.”

It is strange that you think Christ’s teachings were “great” on the one hand but on the other you think the Tanakh, the Old Testament, is despicable. Funny though because Jesus said that whoever teaches anyone to not follow even the tiniest bit of THE LAW will be the least in the Kingdom of God. Most of what Jesus says is from the Tanakh, guess wikipedia didn’t tell you that fact about the Gospels. I do agree with you, however, that Christians don’t pay much attention to him. It is because of that that Christianity is a separate religion and not a sect of Judaism. Oh and on the note of you hating Talmud so much and declaring Christ’s teachings as “great”, um the golden rule that Jesus told his followers comes from Hillel (his silver rule), he is one of the Talmudic rabbis.

“"Jesus Christ... Isaiah and latter Prophets," also figure in Islam. Muslims revere those aforementioned figures as prophets as part of a succession in a line of prophets from Adam, Noah, Moses... down to Muhammad.”

I know wikipedia says so. And I know a lot of Muslims in the West say so too. But first off, Jesus is not even mentioned in the Quran. It is Isa who is mentioned. Now you and other idiots might jump up and say “Isa is Jesus in Arabic” and to that I will just say, “since you don’t know Arabic, shut the hell up!” because Jesus in Arabic is “Yesu’” not Isa. Isa is closer to Esau not Jesus (or Iesous or Yeshua or Yehoshu’ah). Second, Isaiah is not mentioned in the Quran nor the Hadiths. Ibn Kathir later accepted him as a prophet but he is nowhere to be found in authoritative Islamic writings.

Now that we are past the technicalities, I want to talk about Jesus or Isa in Islam. Muslims say they revere and love all the prophets including Isa. That’s a grand statement but it is simply not true. Isa stands against everything Jesus stands for in the Bible. Muslims don’t know about the prophets or Jesus to be able to revere them. They revere a version of these figures that is not found anywhere but in the Quran. It is like this, I can create a figure in my head and say that its you. I name that figure Andy and give that figure a personality that I think it should have. Just because I imagined you in a certain way, doesn’t really make you so. And then if I proceed to say that you are my best friend, would you agree with that claim just because I claim so?

Why is it that people like you lose common sense when it comes to dealing with Islam? Muslims claim a lot of things but those claims are either not true or are half truths. For example, the statement that they revere all the prophets is half of what they believe. The truth would be that they revere all the prophets AS THEY ARE PRESENTED IN THE QURAN. So in reality, when compared with the Bible, they don’t revere any of the prophets, they corrupt their “biographies” and use them for their own good. Another example of such half truths is the statement that Islam is a religion of peace. It is half true because Muslims don’t go ahead and explain that you will be at peace if you accept Islam as the only religion, otherwise you will be dead.

“And there is the CRUX of the problem! You criticize Christian behavior but you mentally divorce such behavior from the religion. You do not give Muslims the same treatment. When a Christian behaves in a manner consistent with a literal reading of his book of Leviticus, that is "abberant behavior" but if a Muslim acts similarly, he is simply behaving in accordance with Islam. Double standard much?”

Actually, yes. That is how it is. But again, you’re too dumb to know the difference. Let’s take the example of the Crusades. Crusades and the idea is not found in the Bible. “Fight the unbelievers and get your sins forgiven.” Yeah, not part of the Bible. (By the way, I am not against the Crusades politically. They had to be fought after 400 years of onslaught by Muslim barbarians!) So from a religious point of view, any Christian will tell you that the Crusades were either wrong or not Biblical. Because (and I am repeating myself, knowing that you are slow of mind) fighting wars to get your sins forgiven is not part of the teachings of the Bible (no not even in the Tanakh).

Now, let us take the example of Jihad. Which in Arabic, literally, means Struggle but in the Quran it is always used in the context of war. The idea of spiritual jihad is both laughable, in the way the West has been taught it, and ridiculous. “Spiritual Jihad” is only performed in case there is a Muslim who is unable to go to war either because of his own health reasons or his parents’. That is it! Otherwise, you have to go to war for Allah whether you like it or not and if you don’t then you are a hypocrite who will be punished both in this world and the one hereafter.

So, to get to the point, when Muslims blow up crap, or when they murder innocent people, it is because that is what they are supposed to do according to the Quran. People usually say, “Yes, but they kill other Muslims, surely that is not part of Islam”. Well, dimwits out there, it is! Because when terrorist Muslims blow up street stores or shopping malls or buses, they are doing so believing that the people they are killing are befriending non Muslims (since they are not out fighting them) and according to the Quran, if you befriend non Muslims then you are one of them. And so killing these treasonous Muslims is a duty instituted by both Allah and Mohammed.

We do mention on this blog and make it clear when a practice by Muslims is not according to Islam. For example, Female circumcision, even though the practice is deeply rooted in Islam culture, it is not instituted in either the Quran, the Sira, or the Hadiths (not even any of the older commentaries). Of course, you are, again, too blind to notice all of that.

The problem with Muslims, and this goes against your argument, is that they do follow their religion to the letter. And it is their religion, which gave birth to their culture, that tells them to go and kill those that don’t follow Islam (except the people of the Book who should pay the Jizya, i.e. pay tribute and if they don’t, then they should be killed). You and your type just have a hard time accepting that. Because hey, only Christians and Jews can be evil, pagans, and everyone else just wants to live peacefully. Get a clue!

“After all, Adolf Hitler was a devout Roman Catholic. (FACT!) Does Hitler's reprehensible behavior speak for all of Catholicism?”

Adolf Hitler broke away from the Church (FACT!) and in fact loudly wished that Germans were Muslim instead of Christian (FACT!). Yes, he did still think that he was Christian and that God had chosen the Arian race to rule the world. And you’re right, that does not speak for the Catholic Church because it is not in either the Bible or their Catechisms but the Quran does teach that everyone who is not a Muslim is an enemy of Allah and has in effect to be killed. Your analogy fails right away when you look at the Quran and compare that with the Bible.

Muslims and their actions represent Islam because they FOLLOW ISLAM. Please show me a specific verse that Hitler followed that helped him annihilate about 12-14 million people (Jews and others). With idiots like you, I always have to repeat myself. Its frustrating!

“What about other Wahabbists, or the Shi'ite fascist clerics in Iran? Are they loathesome?”

This is another example that shows you know nothing about Islam. People that are called Wahabis are actually Salafis. Salafis are the first 3 generations of Muslims (including Mohammed) and they followed Islam perfectly. So that is what they are doing. Following Islam to the letter. That is why they are loathsome.

“Yes. But is it fair to tar all of Islam with that brush?”

Yes it is. Because Islam has not changed either in its interpretation or practice. There are people that either don’t practice all of it or they do and those that do, they blow up crap!

“In a limited sense the Muslims have science on their side…”

Everything that you said, the statement above was the most interesting from you. Muslims have science on their side. I would really love to know what science you are talking about. Did you happen to read Maurice Bucaille recently? Oh no wait, you don’t read books. Maybe you read it on wikipedia (since you link to it so much).

"Are you yourself a Muslim? Haha! No. Are you RETARDED?"

I think the reason Pastorius asked that question was because you do talk like a Muslim. You don’t make sense and you throw around a lot of angry words and think that does the magic. Muslim tricks, dude. Learn new ones!

“For the record, notwithstanding what you THINK, do Muslims follow the example of Jesus? Most do not,”

None do actually, if they follow the Quran. Because they don’t know what he did!

“"They don't believe He was the Prophesied God Messiah of Isaiah and Psalms."
Actually Pastorius, your blatant lies notwitstanding, Muslims do believe that Jesus was the Messiah, or at least a messiah. Look it up! (Or are you to lazy to use Google?)”

I think reading and understanding are not your strong suits. Pastorius clearly said that they don’t believe Jesus is the Prophesied GOD MESSIAH OF ISAIAH AND PSALMS. That is an accurate statement about Muslims. They do not believe that Jesus is God, period! (Actually they don’t talk about Jesus, Yesu’, as I said before. But I am going to let that go for now). Why can’t you read? Your vision blurry and red with anger?

“"They believe that, in the End Times, the Jews must be killed before Allah can restore the world."
Christians have similar End Times beliefs. Just swap "Allah" with "Christ."”

BAHAHAA!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that’s enough of a reply to your idiotic statement.

“"Christians simply have not done the rampaging, raping and pillaging that Muslims have."
Btw, your usage of the past tense…”

Where the hell’s the past tense Sherlock!? I only see Present Perfect. Don’t know English either then?

“I actually agree with you much of the way with regards to Islam, I just do not spare its similarly vile cousins from similar criticism.”

That’s great. Start your own blog.

“Personally, I do not see the need for the Abrahamic religions in the modern world.”

That’s not for you to decide, now is it. Frankly, you don’t even matter in the grand scheme of things (especially because of your reasoning which is worse than an infant’s at times).

Lastly I wanted to talk about your following comments:

“With such mental midgets on this big gay blog (really why so many team members on one blog? I don't mean to be homophobic, but so many men sharing a blog, it's a little gay…
But thanks for trying, fag!
You closet faggot neoconservatives crack me the hell up!”

All of that comes from you, yet you have the audacity to say the following:

“The Abrahamic religions managed to bulldoze indigenous "pagan" cultures (from Greco-Roman Europe and Zoroastrian Persia, through to Hindu India and Egypt and tropical Africa and the Americas and the Oceania), they spread homophobia.”

If you’re so worried about homophobia, you halfwit moron, then fix yourself first and then point your finger at others.

Feel free to reply to whatever I said. I will reply (even though I will take my time) only if your comment is worthy of a reply.

PASTORIUS CUTTING IN: Just for the record, when our Anonymous commenter writes that Yahweh was a Canaanite deity, it is information such as this to which he is referring:

The hypothesis of a Canaanite deity named Yahweh or Yahwi is accepted by some Ancient Near Eastern scholars, although no direct evidence from archeology has been found. The name Yahwi may possibly be found in some male Amorite names. Yahu may be found in a place name.
It is interesting that people who defend Pagan religion are attempting to suggest that the God of the Bible grew out of Canaanite religion. The truth is, the Canaanites worshiped the bloodthirsty god Ba'al, who demanded child-sacrifice and ritual prostitution to keep himself satiated.

FOOD SACRIFICED TO IDOLS A.K.A. HALAL FOOD

I have been wanting to write an article on the issue of eating Halal food for a long time but haven't really gotten around to doing it. However, recently Pastorius posted an excerpt from an article that was published on Jihad Watch. I was really happy that someone else had written an article about this whole thing and so I wouldn't have to do it. But then Epa commented and my hopes of being lazy were shattered. Pastorius summarized Epa's comment as follows:

"Who gives a crap? It's only food."

However, this is what Epa actually said:

Halal OR Kosher for that fact are manifestations of 'what you have to do to safely eat meat/fish in a low/no tech desert or warm environment'”

Well, he said more (you can follow the link and read the whole thing) but this is what prompted me to pick up my pen (keyboard) and start writing this lengthy article.

I will first deal with whether Halal food is just like Kosher, a way for us to eat safe, clean food in a desert or warm environment or is it a ritualistic way of slaughtering meat in Islam, hence “food sacrificed to idols”, in the section “HALAL MEAT: ISLAM'S WAY OF SACRIFICING FOOD TO AN IDOL”. Then I will deal with whether Christians and Jews are to eat food sacrificed to idols or not in the section “BIBLICAL REASONS FOR NOT EATING FOOD SACRIFICED TO IDOLS”. And lastly, I will deal with why people in the West should boycott Halal meat for political purposes and not just for religious in the section “POLITICAL REASONS FOR BOYCOTTING HALAL MEAT ALONG WITH ANY OTHER PRODUCT PRODUCED IN ISLAM OR BY MUSLIMS”. Let us begin!

HALAL MEAT: ISLAM'S WAY OF SACRIFICING FOOD TO AN IDOL

This section should not take me long. The only thing I want to address here is Epa's comment. I am proposing that Halal is not just a way to eat clean meat (fish does not have to go through any religious sacrifice or prayer, Muslims can eat it right out of the water) but an offer and a thanks to Allah for providing the meat. Here is what the process entails.

Apart from making sure that the animal (or bird) has no blemishes and your knife is sharp, you have to lay down the animal and make sure it faces Makkah (Mecca). Then you have to say “Bismillah-e-Allah-u-akbar”, which means, literally, “In the name of Allah, Allah is greater”. And that's when you make a sharp cut in the animal's throat (without severing it completely) and let the blood drain. That completes the slaughtering part. Then you skin it and cook it, just like anybody else would do.

This sacrifice is Haram (not acceptable) if it is not done properly: if there was a blemish in the animal, if the animal didn't face Mecca, if Allah’s name was not recited and if the whole procedure was done by someone who is not a pious Muslim (a pious Muslim is one who offers prayers to Allah 5 times a day, pays Zaka', fasts during Ramadan, goes for Hajj at least once in his lifetime if he has the means to do so and most importantly, says the Shahadah, that is, “La-ilaha-ilAllah-e-Muhammad-ur-Rasul-Allah”, which means, “There is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet/apostle/messenger).

What concerns me is not the facing of Mecca (as to me that is a joke), neither the blemishes (because I would rather eat an animal without any blemishes than one with some) but the part about invoking the name of Allah and it is that part that the Quran specifically tells Muslims to follow. Rest of it has been added through the Hadiths and later traditions (as far I know).

The Quran talks about invoking Allah's name in the following ways.

Sura 2. Verse 173: He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allah.

Sura 5. Verse 4: They ask thee what is lawful to them (as food): say: Lawful unto you are (all) things good and pure: and what ye have taught your trained hunting animals (to catch) in the manner directed to you by Allah; eat what they catch for you, but pronounce the name of Allah over it: and fear Allah; for Allah is swift in taking account.

This is the stuff that matters the most to me. I can not, and I will not, eat anything that is sacrificed in the name of an idol and Allah is nothing other than an old Meccan idol, there is no doubt about that.

This concludes the discussion about whether Halal (which just means “acceptable”) meat has been sacrificed to an idol, namely Allah, or not. To me the above verses leave no doubt about it at all. I am sorry Epa but this does not sound to me like a way to keep meat clean in the desert climate of the Middle East.

Now onto Biblical reasons as to why we shouldn't eat meat sacrificed to idols.

BIBLICAL REASONS FOR NOT EATING FOOD SACRIFICED TO IDOLS

I have been avoiding food sacrificed to idols for the last couple of years now. My primary reason for not eating food sacrificed to idols is simple: Biblical. However, my secondary reason is political. So this discussion should cater to both Christians/Jews and atheists/agnostics/theists. I will first start with the religious significances.

I know there is always a lot of debate amongst Christians whether this rule applies to us in this modern day and age. Many actually don't even think that there is any religion any more that sacrifices food to its god/gods so there isn't any food out there that can be labeled as “food-sacrificed-to-idols”. If we, as Christians, are ever to venture into the matter of idolatry committed through food that is sacrificed to idols, we should ask what the Bible has to say about it.

I am going to start with Paul, who is everyone's favorite when it comes to food sacrificed to idols. Before I begin, however, I just want to say that I have my reservations about Paul. Where sometimes he sounds like the smartest guy in the world, at other times he sounds like someone that has no idea at all what God said about a certain issue (I realize that it is quite possible that I have misunderstood Paul here, but so far I haven't heard a plausible argument to prove my misunderstanding). One of those issues is food sacrificed to idols.

Let's see what he has to say:

1 Corinthians 8:1 Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. 2 Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. 3 But whoever loves God is known by God. 4 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. 8 But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.9 Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? 11 So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12 When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.

I highlighted the things that I think are related to the discussion at hand. (I just have a side-question: What the heck were the believers doing in an idol's temple in the first place?) Where I disagree with Paul is this. It is God who cares about food sacrificed to idols, it is not about someone's sensibilities. Read the following:

Deuteronomy 32: 15 But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked; you grew fat, stout, and sleek; then he forsook God who made him and scoffed at the Rock of his salvation. 16 They stirred him to jealousy with strange gods; with abominations they provoked him to anger. 17 They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded. 18You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth.

Revelation 2: 13 I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. 14 But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality. 15 So also you have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16 Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth. 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, 23 and I will strike her children dead.

Now, as far as idols being no gods but demons or nothing, I agree with Paul as that is what God seems to be saying too. However, where I don't agree with him is when he seemingly makes it all sound like, “we should care about idols only in case someone is offended by it”, as if that was the only thing that mattered here, which, as we have seen above, is clearly not the case. So, either Paul is wrong here or he is just misunderstood; I am hoping it is the latter (I would really appreciate plausible explanations to this passage in case I am wrong). Now that I have made my viewpoint on this popular passage from Paul clear (hopefully), let us see what the Church was told about food sacrificed to idols (apart from the verses from Revelation).

Acts 15: 22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers, 23 with the following letter: "The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings. 24 Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions, 25 it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will tell you the same things by word of mouth. 28 For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: 29 that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell."

As we can see clearly, the Apostles didn't think it was their decision, rather that it was from the Holy Spirit. Another reference goes as follows:

Acts 21: 25 As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.”

I don't know whether what I have pasted here is sufficient evidence for it or not but it is enough for me to be convinced that I am to stay away from food sacrificed to idols.

My case stands more for the Christians. The reason there isn't a lot on food sacrificed to idols in the Tanakh is that the Israelites were told not to even deal with the idolaters around them. In fact, they were told to annihilate them once they conquered their land to avoid any idolatry within Israel. They weren’t even allowed to speak out the name of any other god.

This is it for the religious part of this discussion. I will post the section “POLITICAL REASONS FOR BOYCOTTING HALAL MEAT ALONGWITH ANY OTHER PRODUCT PRODUCED IN ISLAM OR BY MUSLIMS” later as this is already getting way too long for a blog post.

THE QURAN BURNING - HADITH INCLUDES AN ACOUNT OF A REVERED MUSLIM CALIPH BURNING THE QURAN

POST OF THE DAY - SCROLL DOWN FOR NEWER POSTS

burn-quran

I don’t get why Muslims are up in arms about the planned/postponed Quran burning event. First, I don’t get what kind of stupid god they believe in who gets offended every two seconds. And second, wasn’t it their own caliph that started the practice of burning Qurans? Why aren’t they burning his grave down or attacking Saudi Arabia where he’s buried?

One of the authoritative Sunni hadiths from Sahih Bukhari enlightens us thus:

“Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman came to Uthman at the time when the people of Sham and the people of Iraq were Waging war to conquer Arminya and Adharbijan. Hudhaifa was afraid of their (the people of Sham and Iraq) differences in the recitation of the Qur'an, so he said to 'Uthman, "O chief of the Believers! Save this nation before they differ about the Book (Quran) as Jews and the Christians did before." So 'Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying, "Send us the manuscripts of the Qur'an so that we may compile the Qur'anic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you." Hafsa sent it to 'Uthman. 'Uthman then ordered Zaid bin Thabit, 'Abdullah bin AzZubair, Said bin Al-As and 'AbdurRahman bin Harith bin Hisham to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies. 'Uthman said to the three Quraishi men, "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit on any point in the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, the Qur'an was revealed in their tongue." They did so, and when they had written many copies, 'Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa. 'Uthman sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied, and ordered that all the other Qur'anic materials, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, be burnt. Said bin Thabit added, "A Verse from Surat Ahzab was missed by me when we copied the Qur'an and I used to hear Allah's Apostle reciting it. So we searched for it and found it with Khuzaima bin Thabit Al-Ansari. (That Verse was): 'Among the Believers are men who have been true in their covenant with Allah.' (33.23)” Sahih Bukhari.

Now, it is well known that Muslims are hypocrites. This is just another example of hypocrisy on their part. As noted on this blog before and elsewhere, they are alright with their governments burning the Holy Bible and other books of non Islamic religious nature but when it comes to the Quran they just want to kill anyone who even thought about touching it with hands deemed unclean by Muslims.
What the above mentioned hadith shows is that burning a Quran, which is considered by Muslims of today as blasphemous, was employed as state policy by their dear caliph. He started it, go deal with him first!

I expect this from Muslims anyway. Yes, they will probably go out on the streets and endanger the lives of non Muslims all over and yes, burning a Quran would hurt their sensibilities…blah, blah, blah. What I don’t get is, where the hell’s the media when not just Bibles but Christians, human beings, are locked inside churches and then churches set on fire? Where are these so called “loving” Christians when in Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt etc their Christian brothers and sisters are burned alive every day? Where is their love when their brethren are calling for help and they turn a blind eye?

You know, the Quran burning event is probably a stupid little idea but at the end of the day, it is what the people of that church know how to stand up to the idiocy of Islam. We can sit here and criticize that church as bigots and a cult but at least they are doing something…unlike millions upon millions of other Christians/infidels that just sit on their sorry butts and switch the channel whenever the news, if ever reported, comes on about Christians being killed.

I am neither in favor of nor against the Quran burning event. I am in favor of that church’s right to express what they want and I am also in favor of us not bending over backwards for the barbarians that call themselves Muslims. If I had to pick a side today, I would definitely back the church against Muslims. And if that comes at a cost, well I am ready to pay it.

And finally my message to General Petraeus: Instead of being worried about your enemy getting ticked off, you might want to let your soldiers patrol the streets with their rifles loaded and maybe, just maybe, let them shoot the bastards that are trying to kill them and grow a pair of balls and order them to shoot to kill!

A Nation Surrounded By Enemies

Source:

A new sniff-sensing device designed in Israel may help the severely paralyzed to communicate, surf the Net and steer their wheelchairs.

Weizmann Institute Sniffing Technology fMRI

Sniffing is a precise motor skill that is controlled partly by the soft palate, which in turn is controlled by several nerves that connect directly through the braincase.

A stroke patient locked into her body for seven months unable to move or communicate was able to write an email to her family using a new device developed in Israel that allows severely disabled people to communicate and steer a wheelchair by sniffing.

The revolutionary new device identifies changes in air pressure inside the nostrils and translates these into electrical signals which can then be used either to write messages or to move a wheelchair.

"The most stirring tests were those we did with locked-in syndrome patients. These are people with unimpaired cognitive function who are completely paralyzed - 'locked into' their bodies," says Prof. Noam Sobel of the Weizmann Institute, who developed the device. "With the new system, they were able to communicate with family members, and even initiate communication with the outside. Some wrote poignant messages to their loved ones, sharing with them, for the first time in a very long time, their thoughts and feelings."

Ability to sniff is preserved

Sniffing is a precise motor skill that is controlled, in part, by the soft palate - the flexible divider that moves to direct air in or out through the mouth or nose. The soft palate is controlled by several nerves that connect to it directly through the braincase. This close link led Sobel and his scientific team to theorize that the ability to sniff - that is, to control soft palate movement - might be preserved even in the most acute cases of paralysis.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) added support to the idea, showing that a number of brain areas contribute to soft palate control. This imaging revealed a significant overlap between soft palate control and the language areas of the brain, hinting to the scientists that the use of sniffing to communicate might be learned intuitively.

To test their theory, Sobel and his team, Dr. Anton Plotkin, Aharon Weissbrod and research student Lee Sela from the Weizmann Institute's Neurobiology Department, created a device with a sensor that fits on the opening of the nostrils and measures changes in air pressure.

For patients on respirators, the team developed a passive version of the device, which diverts airflow to the patient's nostrils.

Initial tests, carried out with healthy volunteers, showed that the device compared favorably with a mouse or joystick for playing computer games. In the next stage, carried out in collaboration with Prof. Nachum Soroker of Loewenstein Hospital Rehabilitation Center in Ra'anana, quadriplegics and locked-in patients tested the device.

The team found that the method of use is easily mastered, both by healthy volunteers and the disabled. Seventy-five percent of the subjects on respirators were able to control their soft palate movement to operate the device.

Simple to learn, cheap to produce

One patient who had been locked into his body after a traffic accident 18 years ago, wrote that the new device was much easier to use than one based on blinking. Another 10 patients, all quadriplegics, succeeded in operating a computer and writing messages through sniffing.

In addition to communication, the device can function as a steering mechanism for wheelchairs: Two successive sniffs tell it to go forward, two out mean reverse, out and then in turn it left, and in and out turn it right. After 15 minutes of practice, the researchers found that a patient paralyzed from the neck down could navigate a wheelchair through a complex route - sharp turns and all - as well as a non-disabled volunteer.

Sniffs can be in or out, strong or shallow, long or short; and this gives the device's developers the opportunity to create a complex 'language' with multiple signals.

Now Yeda Research and Development Company, the Weizmann's technology transfer arm, is exploring the possibility of commercializing the technology, which is not only simple to learn, but also relatively inexpensive to produce.

In future, Sobel, who has been involved in numerous studies related to the sense of smell, believes that this invention could also be useful in other areas, for instance as a control for a 'third arm' for surgeons and pilots.

Israel's Legal Right To Attack The Flotilla

The only thing I think Israel made a mistake in was in sending commandos on the boat. In my opinion they should have torpedoed the crap out of the ship.

Reuters: Q&A: Is Israel's naval blockade of Gaza legal?

(Reuters) - Israel has said it will continue a naval blockade of the Gaza Strip despite growing global pressure to lift the siege after a navy raid on a Turkish ferry carrying aid killed nine activists this week.

What is the legality of the blockade and did Israel's intervention breach international law? Below are some questions and answers on the issue:

CAN ISRAEL IMPOSE A NAVAL BLOCKADE ON GAZA?

Yes it can, according to the law of blockade which was derived from customary international law and codified in the 1909 Declaration of London. It was updated in 1994 in a legally recognized document called the "San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea."

Under some of the key rules, a blockade must be declared and notified to all belligerents and neutral states, access to neutral ports cannot be blocked, and an area can only be blockaded which is under enemy control.

"On the basis that Hamas is the ruling entity of Gaza and Israel is in the midst of an armed struggle against that ruling entity, the blockade is legal," said Philip Roche, partner in the shipping disputes and risk management team with law firm Norton Rose.

WHAT ARE INTERNATIONAL WATERS?

Under the U.N. Convention of the Law of the Sea a coastal state has a "territorial sea" of 12 nautical miles from the coast over which it is sovereign. Ships of other states are allowed "innocent passage" through such waters.

There is a further 12 nautical mile zone called the "contiguous zone" over which a state may take action to protect itself or its laws.

"However, strictly beyond the 12 nautical miles limit the seas are the "high seas" or international waters," Roche said.

The Israeli navy said on Monday the Gaza bound flotilla was intercepted 120 km (75 miles) west of Israel. The Turkish captain of one of the vessels told an Istanbul news conference after returning home from Israeli detention they were 68 miles outside Israeli territorial waters.

Under the law of a blockade, intercepting a vessel could apply globally so long as a ship is bound for a "belligerent" territory, legal experts say.

CAN ISRAEL USE FORCE WHEN INTERCEPTING SHIPS?

Under international law it can use force when boarding a ship.

"If force is disproportionate it would be a violation of the key tenets of the use of force," said Commander James Kraska, professor of international law at the U.S. Naval War College.

Israeli authorities said marines who boarded the Turkish vessel Mavi Marmara opened fire in self-defense after activists clubbed and stabbed them and snatched some of their weapons.

Legal experts say proportional force does not mean that guns cannot be used by forces when being attacked with knives.

"But there has got to be a relationship between the threat and response," Kraska said.

The use of force may also have other repercussions.

"While the full facts need to emerge from a credible and transparent investigation, from what is known now, it appears that Israel acted within its legal rights," said J. Peter Pham, a strategic adviser to U.S. and European governments.

"However, not every operation that the law permits is necessarily prudent from the strategic point of view."

OPPONENTS HAVE CALLED ISRAEL'S RAID "PIRACY." WAS IT?

No, as under international law it was considered a state action.

"Whether what Israel did is right or wrong, it is not an act of piracy. Piracy deals with private conduct particularly with a pecuniary or financial interest," Kraska said.

HAVE THERE BEEN ANY SHIPPING DISRUPTIONS AFTER THE RAID?

None so far but the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), an association which represents 75 percent of the world's merchant fleet, has expressed "deep concern" over the boarding by Israeli forces, arguing that merchant ships have a right to safe passage and freedom of navigation in international waters.

"These fundamental principles of international law must always be upheld by all of the world's nations," the ICS said.

Here's the part of the San Remo document that gives Israel the legal right to attack the flotilla:

SECTION V : NEUTRAL MERCHANT VESSELS AND CIVIL AIRCRAFT

Neutral merchant vessels

67. Merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral States may not be attacked unless they:

(a) are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture;
(b) engage in belligerent acts on behalf of the enemy;
(c) act as auxiliaries to the enemy s armed forces;
(d) are incorporated into or assist the enemy s intelligence system;

Arabs Are Full Of Hotair

From Ha'aretz (too lazy to link the darn story):

We will issue a warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's arrest if it turns out Israeli intelligence was behind last month's killing of a Hamas strongman, Army Radio quoted Dubai's police commissioner on Thursday.

Dubai's police chief Dahi Halfan referred to the January 20 assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, who was reportedly responsible for the smuggling of Iranian arms to Gaza.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, will be the first to be wanted for justice as he would have been the one who signed the decision to assassinate [Mahmoud] al Mabhouh in Dubai. We will issue an arrest warrant against him," Halfan told the U.A.E. site The Natioanl.

The Dubai police chief also said that the method used to kill al Mabhouh, was a Mossad method, but did not elaborate further.

On Wednesday, Dubai's police chief warned international intelligence agencies from working "behind our back," saying anyone who did so "should be wary of his own back.

Halfan added that that threat was also applicable "to any intelligence organization around the world, whether Mossad, Hamas or any other agency."

The Dubai police chief added that he believed the Hamas leader was in Dubai for business and not for any kind of arms transactions.

Halfan added that if Al-Mabhouh would have been interested in meeting Iranian officials in Dubai, as the Israeli media has claimed, he could have done so in either Syria or Iran itself.

The Dubai police commissioner refused to reveal the identity of the suspects linked to the incident, denying a Hamas claim that the assassins had entered the country by participating in Minister Uzi Landau's entourage, when he visited Dubai earlier that month.

Depressed Souls In A Lost City

Lately I have been so busy that I haven't been able to either make any videos or write about anything whatsoever. I just don't have the time to write regularly--my job is keeping me busy.

However, I have had the time to notice what's going on around me. First off, I notice more and more that there are less people on the flights, especially from Europe. And even the people that are flying are not going to Dubai as tourists, no, they are just connecting onwards to other destinations.

Every year, around December, we have a shopping festival here in Dubai and usually its hyped up with advertisements all over the place but this year we haven't heard a word about it. It might have something to do with the financial crisis that the government here pretends doesn't exist...but then I am just saying "it might" be the reason.

When the Israelis attacked the terrorists in Gaza (because they were tired of getting rocket attacked every day), there were places after places where they were asking for aid for the "poor children and families of Gazans". When Pakistan was hit by an earthquake (I believe it was 2005), again there were places for aid. However, no one gives a crap about Haiti. Yeah, I haven't seen any outcry about the way Muslim countries are not even willing to extend a helping hand. But of course the Swiss decide to ban minarets and the whole UMMA comes crying down on the Swiss.

Oh and just to add to all of this, I also noticed that a Hamas leader was murdered in Dubai. Aw, that's so sad!! I don't think anyone should ask what he was doing in Dubai in the first place--I thought Islam was a religion of peace and that Dubai was a prime example of how Muslims were "oh so modern" and tolerant of everyone and "oh so against violence".

This was just a random update on the depressed souls in this lost city.

For now, I am alive and well!

Did Someone Very Stupid Just Try To Hack My Account?

Well I don't know if someone tried to hack my account or google/blogger just messed up but this morning I received an email telling me different steps on how to recover my password.

Now if this was the job of a hacker...I am telling you publicly--buy "hacking for dummies" or something before you try hacking someone else's account. If you don't know what you're doing, try not to do it because it just reveals how stupid you are. When you click "forgot password", I get the email Einstein, not you.

To the rest here, if you receive an email from me that doesn't sound like me or if there is a post posted on the blog that doesn't sound like something I would write, please delete it.

Just thought I'd give you a heads-up!

From Russia With Love

First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone!

I was in Moscow day before yesterday (yup, the once enemy territory). The city is so beautiful with its grand architecture (specifically the Red Square) and its Ladas, the car that runs no matter what the weather conditions. On top of all that, all the snow around made the beauty of the city even more impressive.

On the other hand, the people of Moscow are some of the rudest people I have come across. But then, that might have something to do with them being under Communism for such a long time. Where all their lives were dedicated (or supposed to be) to the State and nothing else. All they lived and died for was the State and over a period of less than 3 years, that was gone. All of a sudden these people find themselves in the world of Capitalism (or some form of it) and they have to start all over again.

People in Moscow, as some might assume, weren't really poor at all. I actually saw more Maybachs in one night in Moscow than I have seen in Dubai since I have been here. The streets were filled with expensive cars that I won't (and can't) even dream of buying. People in Moscow are rich and they make sure to spend money wherever they go (they have many monday-thursday 24 hour "night clubs"). They are not happy though. Any store you go, the people behind the counter look at you like the enemy has entered. You speak in English and you are their worst customer. They don't care whether you buy something or not. Well, actually not only if you're a foreigner but they don't even care if their own people buy something or not. They probably still have the old mentality...that people will come and buy no matter how they're treated because the supplies are scarce. Although that is not the case anymore as the stores have regular supplies but the mentality of the people will take time to change!

Another thing, I can actually count on my finger-tips how many people I saw in Moscow actually smiling. Its not like they are ugly people or anything, I think they're very beautiful people but they don't know how to smile. They look depressed. It makes you sad to look at them. A frown and rudeness is a common thing in Moscow it seems...its a way of life.

I also noticed, with the old technology around, that Russians are very intelligent. But because, again, they had been State-focused for such a long time that now that they're somewhat free to think for themselves and on their own, they have no idea what's going on. If you notice their behavior around things that are post 1992 for example, you might think they have never been out of their caves (which of course is not the case). What I think is, that their genius has been constrained, and as a result drained for the time being, by the State that never let them think about anything but the betterment of the "fatherland".

My walk down Moscow's streets left me thinking...if Russia had, from the beginning, concepts of liberty, justice and pursuit of happiness embedded in its constitution--they wouldn't have any problem being as great as the United States is today. And vice versa. If these concepts are taken away from the United States, and the government control is expanded over all facets of American life (the process seems to be underway), it won't be long before I write something similar about the American people...that Americans are very intelligent people but their genius has been drained by the State and I find them to be the most unhappy and rude people on earth.

On a positive note though: While people in Moscow still reminisce about the past and sometimes wish the State control would come back, Americans still are very much in control of their own destiny and the government control is still very limited. We'll see what happens in the coming years though.

(I will put up pictures of Moscow soon).
