I read through your Stones' comments below and can't find anything to argue with but...what about "Gimme Shelter"? That dual guitar intro, entirely by Keith, Mick singing with a conviction that is rare for him, and a stroke of genius to bring Merry Clayton in as dual vocalist. Wow, they were never better.

Often overlooked is their pre-Satisfaction material. They were a damn fine blues band, particularly adept at Chicago style. A lot of folks credit Brian for the early sound. Maybe so. Those first albums repay an occasional listen.

Yeah, I agree. Gimme Shelter is a very important song. Don't know why I forgot it.

Also, later material like,

One Hit To The Body
Saint of Me
Almost Hear You Sign
Thief In The Night

Great stuff.

Every time I listen to Gimme Shelter I cant help but wonder at which point in Merry's solo did she kill her baby.

RT: First I thought your comment was weird but looked it up and said she had a miscarriage after the session. Wow, did not know that. Sad.

She recently had both her legs amputated after a car wreck. Sad as well.

Its gotta suck to look back on the pinnacle of your singing career and every time you hear it have it remind you of the tragedy that coincided with it.
