Eroica Trio

"For their Butler ArtsFest performance, the trio begun the evening with three works by Astor Piazzolla, a renowned Argentinian composer known for revolutionizing tango music, and a special arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Chaconne. Following intermission, the trio was joined by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Cathryn Gross for Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, a chamber music piece composed and performed for the first time in a Nazi prisoner of war camp in 1941. Grounded in the circumstances of its genesis, the transcendent work possesses an uplifting quality that instills hope and peace."
