17,000,000 – 24,000,000 flu medical visits
370,000 – 670,000 flu hospitalizations
22,000 – 55,000 flu deaths
THE DEATH RATE IS LOWER THAN THE COVID 19 DEATH RATE BECAUSE OF THE ENORMOUS NUMBER OF CASES.
So, in the USA there have been about 500,000 flu hospitalizations since October 2019. Or 100,000 per month.
China did not have that many total covid19 cases over 5 months.
AND 36,000 FLU DEATHS, OR 7000 A MONTH. SEASONAL FLU HAS KILLED FIVE TIMES MORE THAN COVID 19 HAS KILLED IN THE SAME TIME FRAME.
Meanwhile, ANY discussion on perspective with regard to the Coronavirus requires this:
We need to acknowledge that our economy is being rampaged, people are losing their jobs, and small businesses are being shut down - perhaps permanently - while our government plays out a test run on how to remove our Civil Liberties.

The epidemiology of this thing is no respecter of civil liberties. In fact, the opposite my be true: civil liberties plays into the "hands" of this particular epidemiology.
I do wonder what the term "recovery" means when it comes this damn virus.
