New York Releases Preliminary Coronavirus Antibody Test Results

12.3% of New York state has tested positive for novel coronavirus antibodies, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at a briefing on Saturday. 

The big picture: 

Coronavirus hospitalizations, intubations and cases are continuing to trend down in New York, the epicenter of COVID-19 in the U.S., Cuomo said. 

As a whole, 19.9% of New York City has tested positive for antibodies, the preliminary study found. 

At 27.6%, the Bronx is reporting the highest rate of infection, which Cuomo said the state would further investigate.

The population of the state of New York is 19,450,000 million.

19,450,000 X 12.6% = 2,450,700

As of today, there are 308,000 diagnosed cases of Coronavirus in the New York State.

2,450,700 divided by 308,000 = 7.96 times as many people have, or have had the Coronavirus as previously thought.

There have been 13,156 deaths in New York State.

13,156 divided by 2450700 = .0053 Lethality rate.
