Social Security Warns Benefits Could Get Cut
The Social Security Administration has begun warning the public it cannot guarantee full benefit payments if the debt ceiling isn’t increased.The warning was assembled after the agency consulted with the Treasury Department, which would play a lead role in determining how the government handles payments if the borrowing limit isn’t raised soon.
This would certainly be of a piece with the shutdown policies including throwing octogenarians out of their homes in Lake Mead
In August 2013 nearly 63 million American were receiving social security benefits, including this family. We have other income, but approximately 40%+ DO NOT. It may be more.
This failure will not fall on the Senate or the House. This failure will not be one of party. In 20 years NO ONE will remember that when this happened John Boehner was Speaker of the House. In 20 years NO ONE will remember that when this happened Harry Reid was majority leader in the Senate. In 20 years NO ONE will remember that when this happened Ted Cruz read Dr. Suess.
In 20 years it will be written that Barack Obama, while president of the USA, because he could not or would not function as leader cut or stopped social security payments, and broke the contract the govt had with people who had been contributing their whole lives on the promise of the USA.
If Barack Obama cannot keep his commitments as president he should leave office, because if he does not keep them, and he does not leave, he is going to have MILLIONS OF RETIREES on his lawn.

I have the impression this is why they bought 2 billion rounds of hollow point ammo.
the fact he never presented a plan or budget and kept adding debt at accelerating rate makes it look like this was the goal from day one.

If its by design or not, these idiots are screwing things up a little TOO fast. They're going to bring their own house down, IMO.
Its a poor example to use but MB had been waiting to get power in Egypt for over 80 years. They screwed it up in a little over a year.

Considering Obama basically handed power to the MB, I'm not so sure it is a bad example to use.
He wants a default more than breath itself. The sooner folks catch on the better.
