Family in Shock After Their Healthy 21-Year-Old Son Dies Suddenly In His Sleep

A family is in mourning after a 21-year-old man suddenly died in his sleep. Rickson “Ricko” Williams, from the town of Wallaville in Queensland, died suddenly on January 11, just days before his 22nd birthday. The much-loved former school captain was found dead in his bed. 

His mother, Tanya Wright, said doctors discovered her son had an enlarged heart after his death. Ms Wright posted a heartbroken tribute to her son, remembering him as an aspirational young man who was always the life of the party. “This is not a post I was expecting to write but it‘s nonetheless one that has to be written,” Ms Wright said on Facebook the day after his death. 

“Anyone who knew us, knew how much Rickson meant to us and how much this loss will affect our lives and our family. “He had his whole life ahead of him and had just put in an application to study a bachelor of music.” Ms Wright said they “don’t know his exact cause of death” at this stage but thinks his enlarged heart “may be related”.
