Universal Pictures Cancels ‘The Hunt’Following Significant Backlash

Universal Pictures has canceled the September 27 release of the controversial movie “The Hunt,” in the wake of significant backlash over the film that depicts privileged vacationers hunting “deplorables” for sport.
NBC’s Universal Pictures, which shares parent company Comcast with NBC News and MSNBC, told Fox News on Wednesday that the movie’s marketing campaign would be “temporarily paused” on the heels of the tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, and Gilroy, California.
At that time, it had no plans to shelf the movie itself. But in a statement released to Fox News on Saturday, a Universal Pictures spokesperson said: “While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film.

You have become like the USSR. Previously, before releasing the film on screens, it was viewed by the party apparatus. Sometimes films were rejected and shelved. Many wonderful films made in the 60-70s, we saw only in the "Perestroika"

This film was about Leftists murdering Conservative for their political views. THAT is like the USSR, Elena.

This was not shelved becuase if the party apparatus. This was shelved because it was called to the market's attention and the market finds it repugnant.

I just misunderstood. So you still have a chance.

Thank you for letting us know. No studio executive or manager was ever in danger or the gulag, prison, death, torture, or having his house leveled.

Yes, thank you, Elena. You are more generous than I am. Sorry if I was not kind.

Nothing wrong. I just misunderstood the article due to insufficient knowledge of the language and your realities.

You have an interesting blog. I've been reading it for a long time.
