This is from one of my favorite Jaco and Joni albums, "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter."

This is one of the best tracks. The other great truly brilliant track is "Paprika Plains".

That was the track that inspired Mingus to want to work with Joni Mitchell. He was absolutely stunned by her "balls".

He was right. Joni Mitchell has more "balls" than any female performer before, with the possible exception of Billie Holliday.

Since, we have had Chrissie Hynde, Courtney Love (who is a genius, even if she is a flawed individual), and PJ Harvey.

Heh, I got Lady Day up later this week and The Pretenders early next week. Hadn't thought about PJ Harvey or Courtney Love. Hmm...

I like DJRD but still like Hejira more and Mingus best of all. Especially Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. Love that song have never heard a version of it I didn't like.

The album "Mingus" is probably Joni Mitchell's masterpiece. It is certainly my favorite.

My favorite tune from that album is "The Dry Cleaner From DeMoines".

Here are some great PJ Harvey pieces:
