Oliver Stone: 'Jewish-Dominated Media' Prevents Hitler from Being Portrayed 'in Context'

From Newsbusters:
Director Oliver Stone belittled the Holocaust during a shocking interview with the Sunday Times today, claiming that America's focus on the Jewish massacre was a product of the "Jewish domination of the media."The director also defended Hitler and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and railed against the "powerful lobby" of Jews in America.
Stone said that his upcoming Showtime documentary series "Secret History of America," seeks to put Hitler and Communist dictator Joseph Stalin "in context."

"Hitler was a Frankenstein but there was also a Dr Frankenstein. German industrialists, the Americans and the British. He had a lot of support," Stone told Sunday Times' reporter Camilla Long.
Stone said that, "Hitler did far more damage to the Russians than the Jewish people, 25 or 30 [million killed]."
The Sunday Times interviewer then asked why there was such a focus on the Holocaust.

"The Jewish domination of the media," responded Stone. "There's a major lobby in the United States. They are hard workers. They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has fucked up United States foreign policy for years."
Hitler did not round up Russians and kill them in a campaign of genocide until every last Russian had disappeared from the face of the Earth.

The Hitlerian Genocide of the Jews, on the other hand, was just such a campaign to extinction.

Oliver Stone, whose father was Jewish, ought to be ashamed of himself.

AND ANOTHER THING:

THE 25MILLION RUSSIAN KILKLED BY HITLER NUMBER IS BOGUS.

IT'S A STALINSIT PROPAGANDA NUMBER NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

MANY DIED OF STARVATION OR AT STALIN'S ORDERS.

I ASKED WORLD RENOWNED HARVARD RUSSIA EXPERT RICHARD PIPES ABOUT THIS AND HE SAID IT WAS BOGUS.

HERE'S IS HIS RESPONSE:

It is virtually impossible to determine the true number of casualties that the USSR suffered in World War II. There are suspicions that the figure of 20 million people includes millions of victims of Stalin's purges of the late 1930's. I believe that the military losses ranged from 7 to 9 million troops. These losses were in part so large because the Soviet High Command paid no attention to human lives when launching offensive operations: one high Soviet official told me that generals deliberately incurred huge losses because that meant to Stalin they were brave!

Yours sincerely, Richard Pipes

Oliver Stone is an anti-Semite.

I'll tell you, it becomes very hard for a goy like me, when many of the most prominent anti-Semites of our time are Jewish.

Wow I guess Oliver is an infidel for not agreeing with you on what you believe, your a bunch of flippin hypochrites. Why don't you you shut up about the muslims being a bit hostile to free speech because your the same as them when it comes to free speech. I am so disgusted with all your talks of boycotting people for their opinions. You would love to destroy a persons career because of their beliefs. I'm sickened with your attitudes. Flippin hypochrites.

I say: Oliver Stone has the right to Free Speech, and I have the right not to see his movies.

For the record, I think Oliver Stone is a great writer, and a great film maker.

I am a big fan of his movies; Wall Street, Natural Born Killers, JFK, and Platoon.

I don't agree with his ideas, but that does not take away from my enjoyment of those movies.

However, he has not made a movie of such caliber in a long time.

I think most critics would agree.

I don't avoid Oliver Stone's movies. But, I do avoid Sean Penn, Sarandon, and Robbins.

You're disgusted with "all our talks".

Really, we don't bother with the whole boycott thing here on this blog. So, who are you talking to?

Well Pastorius since you asked I copied and pasted the first 4 comments of the comments section... and among those comments you have commented too..:

It was wrong of me to say, Penn and Robbins are "also" on my list, since Stone is not officially on my list. I just don't go to his movies, cuz I don't think he has made a good movie in years.

That being said, I will even go to a Sean Penn movie now and then, though, he is on my list.

I saw 8 Grams, or whatever it was called, cuz it came highly recommended.

I didn't think it was that good a movie. But, Sean Penn was incredible in it.

Now, that being said, why do you have a problem with us not paying to see movies by film makers with whom we disagree?

i'm pissed off at the blatant double standard. People in the american media say all sorts of negative things about islam. Especially talk radio. But then if someone says something about jews or judaism its this major thing where everyone gets all panicked and denounces it and everything else.

Personally I don't really involve myself with judaism or islam and so I don't make it my bisiness to go around saying stuff about jews or muslims. But I am getting really pissed off seeing these bloggers go on and on about islam and on and on about how they are Americans and have free speech and people are evil for trying to shut them up. And the second someone talks about jews... then they want to shut that person up. It's really inconsistent and really hypochritical. If they don't believe in free speech just say so.

Sean Penn is an amazing actor actually he was great in The Falcon and The Snowman.

Sorry ANON ..but....

"Throughout history the slanders against the Jewish people always preceded the physical assaults and were used to justify these assaults" - Benjamin Netanyahu

That is Oliver Stone's CONTEXT

Anonymous said...

And how is that unique to jews? Slander against any group precedes physical attack against that group. Ive heard Americans say "nuke mecca" before. Slander against native americans resulted in there persecution too.

And so what Ive noticed some bloggers and talk radio people do is they will slander and incite hatred against muslims and do so hiding behind free speech. And the moment jews are slandered they try to silence the person or persons doing the slandering and say that the slander could result in persecution.

Slander of any group can result in persecution. So really I have no sympthy for people who complain about jews being slandered if those people doing the complaining slander other groups such as muslims or whatever.

On the other hand if someone complains about the slander of jews and that person is also against the slander of other groups... then in that situation I view the person as speaking from a position of credibility. I for one do not slander racial, religious groups, or genders.

Pastorius said...

Anonymous, you said: the second someone talks about jews... then they want to shut that person up

No one is attempting to shut down Oliver Stone's Free Speech, Anonymous.

Is that not right?

If there is someone trying to shut down his Freedom of Speech, please tell me who.

That being said, the Organization of the Islamic Conference is trying to get the United Nations to adopt a law against Religious Intolerance, or what they see as blasphemy.

While it is true that the UN has very little actual enforcement power, I think you would agree that this is much more serious than a boycott.

The fact is, Speech is a balance of power on the part of the individual against massive powerful institutions, such as

1) government
2) business
3) media
4) academia
5) religion

If we are not allowed to criticize the above institutions, then they become unchecked powers in society.

You and I agree, I believe, that one ought never argue against the criticism of businesses, religions, government, etc.

Right?

That being said, if Muslims get angry at the criticism leveled at their religion, and at them by proxy, then they can also bitch and complain about it on blogs, and they do.

Recently, some Muslims threatened Facebook that, if Facebook did not shut down sites containing "blasphemous" images of the Mohammed, they would, en masse, leave Facebook. They said 2.5 million Muslims would cease using Facebook.

Did we complain about that here?

No. But, we laughed.

Anonymous said...

I don't know if I believe in free speech or not, I dont know enough to have an opinion if its good or bad.

I just don't get what your saying abou muslims being angry about criticism of their religion and your implication it is bad and unique to islam, I have heard jewish people get angry when people criticise judaism. Why are you turning it into a muslim thing?

about stifling free speech some bloggers are attacking stones careeer... and attacking his careeer due to speech is an attck on free speech:

http://grendelreport.posterous.com/oliver-stone-reaches-a-new-low-anti-semitism

the above blogger is attempting to get people to convince showtime to pull his showtime special

and so I am not necessarily against boycotting people to get them off the air but it just irks me when the same people who do that do not have the decency to avoid slandering other groups out of a desire that they not be persecuted as well.

like I said I am not really for or against free speech and I can totally understand why people wouldnt want to be slandered

I am not against people defending judaism fromm slander. i am against people defending judaism from slander while simultaneously slandering muslims because like it was mentioned slander can lead to persecution and the persecution of muslims is just as bad as the persecution of jews.

Anonymous,

Where were you born and raised?

the difference anon, is that when muslims dont like what you said they resort to sticking a knife in your chest, (theo van ghoe)

or they cut off your head.

or they threaten to cut off your head.

show me the jew who who stuck a knife in anyones chest because of what they said about Judaism or chopped off a head because they were different from jews.

as far as slandering muslims

wow thats a laugh a minute.

islam and those who practice it the world over bring barbarism to what ever land they touch, its slander to bring that record to light?! I think not.

Anonymous,

I respond: Well, you really aren't understanding what I am saying. I don't think this is because you are stupid. It is clear that you are not stupid.

Jewish people do not, as a rule, work against Free Speech.

There is a big difference between

1) a culture ostracizing a person, or group of people, for violating a cultural norm,

and

2) there being a law against Freedom of Speech.

Those are two totally different things.

In my opinion, you are conflating the two.

A Law against Free Speech is the government saying, "no, you can not say what is on your mind."

A boycott, or the kind of stuff we encourage here, where we criticize artists and politicians is totally different. It is actually Freedom of Speech which gives us the right to do what we do here. We don't like something, we speak out against it.

I don't like Sean Penn and Tim Robbins. Because I don't like their politics. Their politics loom so large, for me personally, that they merge with my perception of them and I have a hard time appreciating what they do.

Likewise, Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was such a strange, pathetic human being, and a poor excuse for a man, quite frankly, that I have a hard time appreciating him.

That isn't to say I can't step back and say, "Wow, that guy is a great dancer, and his songs are kind of cool." I can do that. BUT, I can't imagine ever paying for anything of his.

So, boycotts and speaking out are the opposite of Free Speech restrictions. They are me, as an individual, exercising my freedom of choice.

Do you see the difference?

I ask: How do we slander Muslims?

Anonymous said...

@pastorious
I dont think you can accurately say any religious group of people does or does not work against free speech.
Different people do different things and within all religions there is intellectual diversity.

Cultural ostracism is the same as banning it with a law because the same ends are achieved

As for how do you slander muslims.. just look at the posts here, sheesh

@rumrock
your engaging in hate speech against muslims so it would be hypochritical for you to complain against hate speech against other people

I never said it was jews who dended judaism from slander, I just said people who defend judaism from slander... I sorta left the identity of the people ambiguous because I have encountered many different types of people involved in that activity

just look at rumcrook's post for an example of slandering muslims

Anonymous,
He is right; Muslims did kill Theo Van Gogh, precisely because Van Gogh had the audacity to make a movie criticizing Islam.

There are also fatwas on the head of Van Gogh's friends Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Geert Wilders.

Additionally, there are fatwas on the heads of my friends Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller.

And, there are fatwas on the heads of Lars Wilks and some other Danish cartoonists and media execs.

So, the thing is, it's not slander IF IT IS TRUE.

Muslims do, quite often, respond to silly insults, or serious considerations of their ideas (as is the case with Salman Rushdie) with threats of murder. And sometimes they actually are able to murder these people.

Additionally, there is a fatwa on the head of a dumbass lefty political cartoonist who announced at Facebook that she thought it would be a good idea to have an "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day". I call her a dumbass, because she bumbled so innocently into it.

I don't bumble.

Here's my cartoon, and the cartoons of our contributors, for "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day":
