‘School shooter in the making’: All the times authorities were warned about Nikolas Cruz

The news doesn't often depress me because I expect bad stuff to happen.

But I don't expect the FBI, a school, the Police, and the Social Worker's system to all ignore such an obvious problem.

It's just fucking horrible.

Broward County Sheriff’s Office Did Not “Miss Warning Signs” or Make “Mistakes”…

Read it and weep. Americans have become so complacent as to allow ... to hire/train/pay professionals to corrupt the system.

My name is John Bouchell and I am not a bot. I was in school administration after spending a stint in the military. Let me explain: As usual, I was a teacher, a coach and later became an administrator. I worked at all three levels of public school in administration.
Like most athletic males I was assigned as a part of a school security team- at all three levels. Eventually, I was trained by the Department of Homeland Security, Several sheriff's departments, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, GBI. Prior, I was trained the military.
I was a Combat Crew member and a certified marksman with both rifles and pistols (M-16, and .40 Cal Colt) with an Oak Leaf Cluster (Multiple awards). I was a likely person to help with school security and had an extensive background in technology and video surveillance as well.
I held an SCI security clearance which is the very highest we have in America. I say these things to help you to understand my background to weigh my opinion as to the events in Parkview Florida, (30 minutes from my home where I live, now retired from School administration).
As an administrator in charge of a large High School of 1,800 students and 140 employees, I held tabletop exercises and wrote publications & power points presentation, & helped with both multiple school & mult-jurisdiction school systems training as developer and presenter.
Never did I hear from, receive information from, or was contacted by, read any publications, or gathered statistics from the United States Secret Service. Not once- EVER. Yet, 3 weeks prior to the shooting in Florida, the USSS was not only at the school, they held training.
I have also, despite actually thwarting a school shooting by an armed predator at my school, causing both Code Red, total lockdown, 911calls and arrests and conviction of the potential shooter, saw, spoke with, or was interviewed or contacted by the FBI, or the USSS.
Its worthy to note the 911 response time was in excess of 20 minutes. In fact, I was only contacted by a few reporters. The incident was basically ignored and squashed in fear of damaging the political establishment, school board, school superintendent, et.al.
NO REPORTERS EVER CONTACTED MY STUDENTS for interviews or opinions. I never spoke to a national law enforcement agent much less the USSS. So, to hear the FBI were the first responders only beating CNN by minutes in a wealthy Florida area saturated with Law Enforcement shocked me.

More about Sheriff Israel:
In 2007 he changed his voter registration from Republican to Democrat to run for Broward sheriff. He won a bruising five-way Democratic primary, but lost to Republican Sheriff Al Lamberti in 2008.

He was devastated, but his wife says he moved forward quickly.

“I didn’t answer my cellphone for a week. Scott answered the minute he found out — he never shut down,” she said. “He was annoying me. I said, ‘Throw your cell phone in the lake.’ He said, ‘Susan, I lost, but don’t you think all the people that helped me, they lost too and they are devastated?’ ”

Losing humbled Israel. He took Lamberti on again in 2012.

This time he won, taking over the $700 million, 6,000-person agency that operates the jail and provides law enforcement to many cities as well as the airport.
...
In 2013, when the Florida Sheriffs Association expressed support for the controversial Stand Your Ground law, Israel said he wanted legislative changes to more narrowly restrict the use of the law.

Advocate for gun control

The mass shooting puts Israel in an unusual position: The shooting has given him a bully pulpit to speak about gun control, but he’s a Democrat, politically at odds with the Republican leaders in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C.

Regarding my experience with the FBI - my concern while seated inside an interrogation room at the Dallas HQ was met with good-cop/bad cop and my security clearance was threatened. I had set up the appt. and I was treated in a thoroughly discourteous manner - and I was a Naval officer, level headed, and had a valid concern related to an Islamic imam with ties to AQ with whom I had a long e mail relationship. I was concerned - and I was slapped. How dare I enter their "space"? How dare I be bold enough to express a concern for my own safety? Isn't that what MULTIPLE individuals did regarding Cruz? They had a concern for the safety of the students and instead of Cruz being removed from the public square, their concerns bought seventeen slabs at the morgue, seventeen autopsies and seventeen burial plots.

Back to moi...

Later, reporting on a serious rumor regarding Iran and her aspirations I sent the information to AFRICOM. I received a robotic "thank you". My sense of it was "Thank you" but we will take it from here - you are part of the "little people" without a clearance. (Report something and chances are that it will be your life which will be torn apart, down to underwear size and favorite foods.)

Sure. There are whacked out conspiracy theorists who beleaguer the FBI from day to day. But that is not me. I have a solid reputation, am ethical, have written journalism for Daily Times for a period of years, Economic Affairs (the SECP for Pakistan) as a senior writer, Turkey Tribune (another English language paper for another Islamic Republic) and now write for a start up "Morning Mail" in Pakistan. I was part of a presidential run for a Sudanese candidate who was on the ground in a platformed run against Omar al-Bashir and I was on the inside - and early into the facts of the Clock Boy story before the news actually broke. Inside - for news coming out of Chechnya and a U.S. based support cell for the rebels. This is what a reporter does: share multiple lunches and sessions with confidential sources and report out what can be told in print form - and occasional shout out up stream if it concerns national security.

For all of this I did receive a reward. I was also part of the press corps for the Draw Muhammad event at Garland, Texas. And all of the FBI guinea pigs were inconvenienced with both vehicles sequestered at the site, having to sign "witness" affidavits handed out by the FBI at midnight, and I spent 100 dollars to have a Muslim cabbie drive me home at 1 a.m. Now THAT made my blood boil.

Here is the deal. Yes, I understand the parameters for those holding clearances because I once held one for many years. But when the big dogs on the porch don't do their jobs the chihuahuas need to nip at their heels. This is us.

This is nationwide. The principal at Governor's Ranch Elementary (GRE) in Denver was fired last fall for burying / not reporting bullying and threat assessment reports on students. GRE is a Denver grade school that feeds into Columbine HS. Klebold and Harris attended GRE. The principal who was fired last fall had only been at GRE 3 years but was hated by teachers because she refused to act or report bullying and threat assessments in order to inflate the GRE's stats. She was fired after JEfferson County schools was sued by parents of a bullied child. Students threatened to bring a gun to school and kill their child - and the principal buried the threat assessment.
