The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was a concert show organised by The Rolling Stones on 11 December 1968. The show was filmed on a makeshift circus stage with Jethro Tull, the Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and the Rolling Stones. John Lennon and his fiancee Yoko Ono also performed as part of a one-shot supergroup called the Dirty Mac, featuring Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, and Keith Richards.

So I watched that for the first time in over a decade. The Stones set was pretty good. JJF a bit lame, Brian: cool slide, Mick is a pretty good harpist, You Can't Always... was nice and raw without the annoying chorale, great material from Beggars. Hard to understand why they (supposedly) didn't think they came across well: the alleged reason they shelved the project.
Tull with Cornick, still miss him. Taj had Jesse Ed Davis on board. Almost forgot about him. John was likely tripping, Yoko is an acquired taste. Never got much out of Marianne Faithfull but will refrain from insult. And The Who were on the verge of superstardom. They really had their act nailed.
Good show really.

Did you notice Tony Iommi playing with Tull?
That was weird.
And, I just thought the whole thing was beautifully filmed. I was surprised at the quality.
I agree, I had heard it was dreadful. Not so. The circus acts were silly but what the hell? Looked like everybody was having a good time (particularly John).
I understand that was T.I. only gig with Tull. They needed a lead G to replace Mick A. and Tommy filled in.
