I just got word that one of my best friends -- my best man so many years ago -- died suddenly Tuesday.
We hadn't spoken in a few years, working and raising families we just fell out of touch.
He was an avid hunter, my fishing buddy, a gun nut who loved music and drinking. Especially together. He was one of the few who could outdo me with the Wild Turkey. I tried many nights.
He was also a Marine, a Vietnam Vet who would rarely talk about it.
Semper Fi, Randy.

Wish I had one but there are even fewer pictures of him than there are of me.

Hello IB,
My name is F.William Houraney and I have been following your blog now for a while.
Had to comment this time just to say I'm sorry for your loss. Your posts are spot on so I thought maybe you would identify with this post on death that I recently did at my site.
The title is 'The Only Enemy'.

Sorry MR.
Losses like this can never be made up.
You just have to hold the loss.
And then the sun comes up and it sucks.
And you don't want to forget.
And THAT makes it hurt
