The Kellogg-Briand Pact, also known as the Pact of Paris or Paris Peace Pact.^[1], after the city where it was signed on August 27, 1928, was an international treaty "providing for the renunciation of war as an instrument of national policy."

It was proclaimed to go into effect on July 24, 1929. By that date, the following nations had deposited instruments of definitive adherence to the pact: Afghanistan, Albania, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liberia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, Siam, Spain, Sweden, Argentina, and Turkey. Sixty-three nations ultimately signed the pact.

Obama believes that the Russians can use some ingenious diplomatic method and pressure to stop Iran.

The Russians will gladly agree, and Iran may even sign something. It is in the Russian interest for Iran to have nukes. It make problems for us. Especially as Korean aided Iranian missile development rushes ahead. Especially as they buy more Kilo subs (from Russia). Problems for us are good for Russia, EVEN IF that means a nuke in Tel Aviv, or one in the USA. That is how they see it.
