Schumer Tells MSNBC ‘Dems are prepared to deny ANY SCOTUS appointment for FOUR YEARS’

On Maddow yesterday:

Asked by Maddow whether he would seek to simply keep the seat open rather than confirm a nominee outside the mainstream, Schumer replied: “Absolutely.”

“We are not going to make it easy for them to pick a Supreme Court justice,” he said.

Suggesting that could be any nominee, he said: “It’s hard for me to imagine a nominee that Donald Trump would choose that would get Republican support that we [Democrats] could support.”

The following are unarguable facts of history.

Only ONCE before in US history has the outgoing party (such as the Dems in 2016), in the minority seen a SCOTUS appointment made in the last 12 months of the presidency. That appointment, made during RECONSTRUCTION was actually of a REPUBLICAN in the south who had SWITCHED to DEMOCRAT in order to win an elected judgeship, since no republican in the south then, could get elected to anything. It would be as if Merritt Garland had been a Republican, Scalia like, aficionado in a California which elected judges, and became a Democrat to get elected and then was appointed by Obama.

Is there a doubt about what the Senate would have done?

These are the facts.

Mr. Schumer is now, in the midst of UTTER partisan resistance EVEN BEFORE INAUGURATION, has gone and announced if the elected govt picks another Scalia it will be the policy of the minority party, to HALT any appointment to the Supreme Court.

FOR FOUR YEARS.

I wonder if he realizes he is making it COMPULSORY to extend the nuclear option, broken open by the former Majority Leader, Harry Reid, to all appointments, and perhaps to all legislation, making the govt of USA one of SINE WAVE swings which will find ever increasing amplitudes.

We may be at the point in our history:

1. Where we have BLM organizing against a Trump who has done NOTHING against Americans who are black,
2. Celebrities organizing around this and antisemitism (have they looked at Trump’s choices for the Cabinet, advisers, trade enforcers and ambassadors?), and anti LGBT actions (have I missed something since Trump said gay marriage, and other such issues were moot since SCOTUS has decided the issues?)
3. Organization decrying Trump’s anti union proclivities (hello, …FORD, CARRIER, GM…WHAT?    WHAT?)
4. Paid for groups springing out the earth to organize against and resist Trump (excuse me but WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?)
5. When since he has yet done NOTHING, is not even inaugurated, and yet from the left we have if not Bolshevik in content, Bolshevik in methodology and degree of opposition to ACTUAL PROGRESS…actions

Where it is time to consider an across the board resort to the nuclear option for 2 years, and see how that goes.
