Mumbai photos

First saw this at LGF. Boston.com has about 35 good photos from Mumbai. Some are very disturbing but must be clicked first to be seen so you can safely skip if no constitution for it. To see pure evil and good people desperately trying to fight it: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/11/mumbai_under_attack.html

Extraordinary set of photos. Defenseless people just minding their own business shot down for the greater glory of Allah and a crack at those 72 virgins.

I'd been thinking in terms of NYC, but closer to home -- that could be South Station in Boston. That could be the Ritz or the Four Seasons hotel. We have LNG supertankers that unload about once a week and are vulnerable to speedboat attack. The fireball would wipe out half of Chelsea, the city I grew up in, and turn the northern end of Boston into smoldering rubble.

We always think, it can't happen to us, even after it has, even as we watch it happen to people like ourselve, including our fellow citizens. What will we have to lose before people pay attention? How many have to die downtown in some American city in the middle of rush hour again before the living stop playing hear-no-evil-see-no-evil-speak-no-evil?

Yesterday, one of those we dined with told me with a sincere and straight expression on his face that there is no national security threat to the United States and never has been. This idiocy, the day after the Mumbai attacks! He must have been thinking, "That's over there. The same can't happen here."

Needless to say, the individual of whom I'm speaking above believes that GWB engineered or was complicit in the 9/11 attacks.

There's just no response to someone like that. My temptation would have been to slap him into the E.R.

Like Jake would have said: I hate Virginia Truthers.
