Yes, She's a Racist

Which is why President Obama has appointed Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court of the United States. The American Bar Association provides the smoking gun in their profile of Sotomayor:

In addition to her work on the bench, Judge Sotomayor is an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law and a lecturer-in-law at Columbia Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Women’s Bar Association, the Puerto Rican Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Association of Judges of Hispanic Heritage, and the National Council of La Raza. She has received many honors including, most recently, an award from the National Association of Women Lawyers.
Here is the resume of a professional identity politics apparatchik. La Raza (The Race) is an explicitly racist organization that trumpets the Reconquista of the American Southwest. They are now soon to have their very own Supreme Court Justice.

As the founder of La Raza, Jose Angel Gutierrez has stated:

We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to worst, we have got to kill him.

And with the far left, it also comes to the worst. Empathy, you had better believe in.

UPDATE I: Here's more information on La Raza from Michelle Malkin at National Review online.

Update II: Here is a telling quote from Sotomayor's now notorious speech at Berkeley in 2001. She is making a statement defending "diversity" i.e. racial profiling in appointing judges to the bench.

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life ... Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences our gender and national origins [euphemism for race] may and will make a difference in our judging....
What is most interesting is that she closes this paragraph by describing the epistemological basis of her racism, “there is no objective stance but only a series of perspectives.” By a "series of perspectives" she means that there are no standards of truth or justice applicable to all citizens. Instead America's newest Supreme Court Justice is an adherent to the doctrine of racial subjectivism.

As Leonard Peikoff defines it:

Racial subjectivism holds that a man's inborn racial constitution determines his mental processes, his intellectual outlook, his thought patterns, his feelings, his conclusions - and that these conclusions, however well established are valid only for group members of a given race, who share the same underlying constitution. [The Ominous Parallels, p. 60]

What makes this particularly disturbing is the thesis of Peikoff's book, which is the rise of a fascist America. In 1982 he predicted that this was the road America had embarked upon. In a concluding chapter he explained how America was balkenizing into mutually hostile groups, many of which that are race based.

Thus the fading of the New World's legendary "melting pot," which had once demonstrated that men from around the globe could live together in harmony; the harmony had followed from the principle that group ties did not have to matter, because in America self-reliance was possible and individual accomplishment was the source of rewards ... This is the emergence in the United States of the most primitive form of collectivism, the form endemic to backward cultures (and to controlled economies): tribal racism. Racism is what takes over anywhere - wherever the knowledge of the nature and possibilities of man, man the individual, has not yet been grasped, or is being battered into oblivion. [Peikoff, p. 312]

The batterers against self-reliance, individualism and genuine accomplishment as the source of rewards are now in charge of both the White House and Congress. Those two branches have now set there sights on the third branch of government. I have no doubt that if Obama gets another opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court Justice, he will find someone who shares his own, and Sotomayor's, contempt for individualism, reason and freedom. Someone so filled with self-doubt and loathing that they must find "identity" in a human herd of fellow tribal racists.

Grant Jones,

Just imagine the outrage from the same leftists who have no problem with her, if she were a white women and belonged to any white racist organization.

I believe that my experiences as a white male allow me to make better decisions than a Latina woman who obviously doesn't have the same experience.

link to a sucinct point:

Sonia Sotomayor is a judge who has been humiliated with an 8-0 smackdown of her judicial reasoning.

And the case that is “pending review” – Ricci v. DeStefano (aka the New Haven firefighter case), is precisely the sort of terrible and racist reasoning that should demonstrate how unfit for the highest court in the land Sonia Sotomayor truly is.

A couple of paragraphs from an excellent article on the case:

Mr. Ricci’s saga started in 2003. At the time, he was one of more than 100 firemen who took a written and oral exam that the New Haven Fire Department (NHFD) administered in order to determine whom it would promote to fill 15 openings for lieutenant and captain positions. In preparation for the test, Ricci, a dyslexic who struggles with reading and retaining information, simply outworked most of his competition. He spent more than $1,000 to purchase books that the city had recommended as useful study guides, and he studied for 8 to 13 hours each day. When the test scores were ultimately tabulated, Ricci’s name was near the top of the list. The promotion should have been his.

It didn’t happen that way. It soon emerged that New Haven’s black firefighters, on average, had performed quite poorly on the same test that Ricci had aced. In fact, not a single African American had scored high enough to qualify for a promotion. When word of this got around, a number of local black leaders with political influence thundered that the exam itself was to blame, arguing alternately that it was racially biased on the one hand, and a poor predictor of an applicant’s potential to fulfill the duties of a leadership position on the other.
We had a law in place; we had a universally recognized system of promotion. One man, in particular, tried to work as hard as he could within the rules that were supposed to be for everyone, and aced the exam. But Sonia Sotomayor decided she didn’t like the results, and so she changed the rules quite literally after the game had already been played.

She has a lot of splainin to do

She should be firmly challenged, and repubs should go out of their way to explain WHY challenges are being made... La Raza is like some old white dude trying to explain to big cities why he belongs to CofCC, NO DIFFERENCE. And that latino woman comment vs white men...oy, BUT this is not the fight to stick a flag in the ground over.

The repubs should be warning: 'America, despite her incredible American story of achievement ..on principle.. THIS is what you are getting, and it won't be good for the constitution'

And then STFU

Grant,
The updates you added, and the one I added as per Damien's suggestion, have really made this a great post.

Thanks for the background and the explanation of Racial Subjectivism.

My opinion is, whenever Racial Subjectivism is a deepseated belief among those who run a government fascist law will necessarily follow.

That's exactly why I oppose groups like La Raza, Mecha, the VB, and the BNP.

I'm glad you appreciate my input.

Isn't Racial Subjectivism just another word for racism, if you think about it.

Good point, Damien. How could it not be?

Thanks everyone for the feedback and for the link to Malkin's article on La Raza.

Peikoff brought up the issue of racial subjectivism in a discussion on how the Nazis substituted race for Marxist class warfare. He was trying to demonstrate that at root they are the same thing, based on a common epistemology.

And BHO is taking America down that very path!

Can there be recovery from what's already happened? In the minds of the electorate, I mean.
