Email From My Kid's School

Today, I left the house and noticed there were Police Helicopters circling in our general area.

Then I get this email:

"The Superintendent's Office has been informed by the --- Police Department that there is significant police activity in and around the intersection of --- and --- in the City of ---.  Because of this activity, all staff members and students are directed to stay away from this area of the city.

Staff members and students are also directed to report any unusual activity observed in and around our school sites to a teacher or other staff member immediately upon observation.  Because of the increased police activity, --HS, --HS, --HS, and --HS will be on modified lockdowns for the remainder of the school day.

With the heightened sensitivity over the recent bombing at the Boston Marathon, it is of critical importance that we all cooperate with the directions of the --- Police Department by staying away from the intersection and reporting unusual activity immediately.

Thank you for your support and cooperation."

Oh, and now another email:  

"This is to inform you of a situation that occurred this morning at the Del Taco fast food restaurant on the corner of State College and Chapman Ave. 

--- PD contacted ---- Elementary, --- Junior High, and --- High to let them know that the police were investigating a suspicious package left at ---- location. 

I spoke with Sgt. ------- of -PD and he said that there is no immediate threat to any of our schoolsand no need to lockdown or evacuate.

In light of the recent incident in Boston, --- PD is just being extra cautious with any suspicious packages. Sgt. --- said that the situation is near resolution and it appears to be a nonissue."

Please be assured that we have been in touch with --- Police Department, we will excercise the greatest of caution.
