From People of Shamabala:
Lady Gaga appeared at London Fashion Week, wearing perhaps most provocative outfit to date — a pink, sheer burkha. Underneath, the controversial celebrity wore a skin-colored body suit, embroidered with blue flowers on the legs and chest.
The burkha is worn by strict Muslim women, usually of the Saudi-Arabian Wahabi fundamentalist brand of Islam. As such, Gaga’s see-through burkha seems designed to mock the extremism of Islamic fundamentalists. The pop singer is well known for her outspoken support of gay rights and women’s rights.
Islamic hardliners recently protested against the US singer, and managed to prevent her Indonesian concert from going ahead, by threatening to bring “chaos” if she performed.
Indonesian Council of Ulema (MUI) chairman Cholil Ridwan said that he believed the Lady Gaga concert was part of a plan, “intended to destroy the nation’s morality.”
Lady Gaga wore the pink, see-through burkha when she opened for milliner Philip Treacy, known for his avante garde designs that cater to the world’s fashionistas.
