MR - I appreciate and very much miss the daysmy oldest two were participating in high school marching band. As luck would have it, their coach was quite dedicated (some would suggest he was obsessed - almost cost him his marriage) but the efforts paid off having taken his 426 member marching band to win the State Championships . . .from 3rd to 2nd (twice) and finally to #1 in 2004. He retired a couple years later. That high school has doubled in size (census and structure) in recent years (due to migration from metro NYC post 9/11) so I can only imagine how large the Admirals marching band is now.
It's a shame the sport doesn't receive the recognition it deserves for the combination of agility,endurance, coordination, flexibility and musical talent required to pull these programs off.
