From the August 31, 2008 edition of the Washington Post comes this buried item:
PAKISTANOkay, so maybe there are news reports out there in the mainstream media, and maybe human rights activists are outraged.
Honor Killings Defended
A Pakistani lawmaker defended a decision by southwestern tribesmen to bury five women alive because they wanted to choose their own husbands, telling stunned members of Parliament to spare him their outrage.
"These are centuries-old traditions, and I will continue to defend them," Israr Ullah Zehri, who represents Baluchistan province, said Saturday. "Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid."
The women, three of whom were teenagers, were first shot and then thrown into a ditch.
They were still breathing as their bodies were covered with rocks and mud, according to news reports and human rights activists.
But the story gets nil coverage on the evening news.
Why is that? Where is the outcry?
Can't you imagine the coverage were such barabarity practiced and defended by Jews or Christians, particularly those in a political position?
Islam: Stuck in the Seventh Century. And Islam will continue to be stuck there as long as the mainstream media ignore such stories and continue the whitewash of Islam.

Imagine a community with 2000 marriagle people. 1000 women and 1000 men. If polygamy is applied and men can have four wives, 250 men will get marry . 750 of men will not.

In response to Natasha,
People who are Christians do horrible things to women. However, there are no countries which are run by Christian law where barbarity is directed at women as the result of said law.
In fact, there are no countries run by Christian law at all.
There are, however, countries which have systems which are, in part, inspired by the Judeo-Christian value system.
I'm just trying to be specific here, because people will look at a blanket statement like yours and say, "Well, Christians do bad things too ..."
Fine. Where is it sanctioned by law?
Answer? Nowhere.
